Yep. But not nearly as much as I used to. Between medication, life changes, and getting older, things are better than they used to be.

That's great! If I could just control my thoughts and keep my mind from racing I'd be fine.

I did in the past...meditation is a good way to stop anxiety .

Gonna give it a shot thanx

I think that most people do in one form or another. I don't think mine holds me back much, but I do pay attention to it and where it comes from.

Yes and you'll find it here. [agnostic.com]

I was having it severely as well, no meds were helping so I turned to pot and boom, anxiety was gone.

2

Yes, lifelong, still prone to it, but for now life is under control so I am ok.

That's good. I'm still tryna find a way to deal

@Afrikanqueen37 Sadly I don't have an answer to stop the anxiety, I am still at risk from it, and it always comes up and bites me when things get bad. Best I can do is avoid situations as best I can. I would love to be able to just reduce my susceptibility to it.

@Rugglesby Yeah I can relate. If I can stop my mind from ruining wild I'd be ok lol

Only when it is bad, usually I’m indifferent enough that I don’t get very anxious.

Yes, most of it comes down to feeling your feelings instead of thinking through your thoughts. Your thoughts about something go on forever, your feelings eventually subside.❤

That's true...

The mind is clever.
Don't let it control you
You control the mind and this will help your anxiety

Absolutely. I have generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and C-PTSD. Anxiety sucks!

It really does!

Clinical depression/anxiety diagnosis.
Queen you are not alone.

Darling I think we all do. Mine used to be severe when I was your age. In my 30s I was burning the candle at both ends taking care of everyone except me. So ....my 30s was the oh fk me decade, my 40s was the oh fk you decade and my 50s has been the f**k all y'all decade. And I'm not on meds anymore.
Take care of yourself at least as well as you take care of everyone else and if you can't be everything to everyone. ..guess what? The world doesn't stop turning and everyone is still on it <3

Oh wow thanx. You're right. I have 4 children and No time for me. Always taking care of everyone else. I will Definatley take better care of myself.

2

Yes I used to suffer really badly with it but to a degree, I'm learning to live with it

You're learning to live with it but how do you deal with it?

you got to learn to put it to the back of your mind really as it never goes away or breaks the circle. if your tired and out of adrenalin you can't have anxiety so going to the gym or working out really helps. I take valium which stops it in its tracks too.

Yes, fortunately I have found ways to cope better over the years!

I feel like everyone deals with it. Some have better ways to cope than others.

I've suffered from GAD all my life, finally realized that's what it was and found a good medication to help. My GAD-7 score went from the severe anxiety level down to mild, or even lower. It took trying three different meds, but even within a week of using the first one, I had a very noticeable change. It's been since October and I am still trying to figure out what's me and what was the anxiety!

1

I used to. But I had a stroke and that took care of it. I'm not recommending that as cure (some of the most horrible months of my life) but I was on medication that helped a little. I would have to say that you need to push yourself into situations that make you anxitious up to a point. My mom tried that because she didn't believe I suffered from anxiety, boy did was she surprised and shocked and hurt because she went out of her way to make me anxitious. She ment well but......

Oh wow I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm on meds as well. But I have hyperthyroidism and that makes it worse.

I'm seeing a lot of posts about controling your thoughts. I know how I controled mine (not anxiety) but I can't seem to teach my daughter who does suffer from sometimes crippling anxiety attacks.
Any tips?

I'm sorry about your daughter and wish i could help but I'm looking for help as well.

Some people might be able to decrease their anxiety that way, but I think for many who suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, that would be like telling a cancer patient to think away the cancer. It just doesn't work that way. I became a runner about 6 years ago, that exercise does help some, but it's not really a cure.

Crowd anxiety caused by being deaf in one ear. Nothing bothers me more than a pep rally.

How do you deal?

@Afrikanqueen37 Its sad, but my whole life is centered around managing my anxiety and mood disorder. I can't work certain jobs. I can't be around certain personalities. I don't participate in certain activities that trigger anxiety. I have to sleep at a certain time. I need X amount of quiet time to recuperate on the rare occasion that I socialize. I used to take anxiety meds, which helped, but I became addicted to them. My life isn't bad, it's just exhausting sometimes having to manage my illness this way and try to work in the public.

@Afrikanqueen37 and it definitely alienates people from me when they don't understand. I have two friends that are very accepting and supportive, and so are my kids. I just wonder if I'll ever be able to date again.

@Lani wow I thought I was the only one who was suffering this way. I can't do certain things at work either. My boss thought I was lying until I had an attack at work and had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance. I don't socialize much anymore. I have 1 friend that comes to my home to visit me. I have support from my kids as well and I'm afraid to date again...

1

Yes, not as bad as it has been in the past...at the moment! If I get in a rush...trying to cover too many bases, it will be right there!! It does help to remind ourselve when we are in the middle of it...that we will be perfectly all right and we can handle what we are in the middle of! I may seem like a fool...but, I can't worry about that! I need to get certain things done.

0

There's a pill for that

0

Only when I'm not in control...lol!
Seriously though, when things need to get done and have to rely on others to accomplish them, anxiety rises. Because when I think necessary, others think optional.

0

What???...why are you asking that question??... Why do you want to know???... Do you know me???...do you know where I live??? What I do??? Where do I go????... (Does that answer your question? ??? )

Exactly!
