A NY Times columnist thinks the Gray Lady is an astrophysical journal?

Has he been channeling Arthur Eddington, who around 1920 without evidence suggested that nuclear fusion powered the sun?

I’m remembering the Tampa Tribune columnist who in the 1950s thought the “Florida Fishwrap” was a physics journal. His article said pertpetual motion was a reality. I was in college studying physics and didn’t believe him.

Fake news is a reality.

But is the Journal of Plasma Physics fake news?

@p-nullifidian What is the JPP’s connection to my post?

@yvilletom The JPP and its Sparc fusion experiment are cited in the Times' article.

@p-nullifidian Thanks. That the NYT article cited the JPP intrigues me.

I went to cambridge.org and looked at its JPP info, especially at its guidance for authors. It seemed like a legitimate scientific journal, not like a publishing house that wants 1) exciting stories that attract and keep readers, or 2) authors who can produce such stories. Most of the sources identified in astrophysics posts to the “Academic” category are such publishing houses.

Whoops, gotta go. More in a while.

If we have cheap energy, we will continue to grow and collapse even harder.
Best option is to reduce our use of energy sooner. The use of force won't work to do so, though removing the forcible subsidies f cheap energy would help, though likely cause civil unrest in the industrialized world.
Conservation is the only way to avoid bloody collapse, but I see no way that consumers will stop consumer until collapse happens.

Saw this story and felt a little happiness...just for a moment. Think what we could do for the environment.....the air....water....
