Wondering if they can store energy....for those ''doldrum days." Still...wouldn't it be fun to take a space on that ship....read....nap....enjoy the ocean...knowing you weren't polluting the air? Install composting toilets....sounds good to me!

Not actually sails, even though that's what they are called. Wind generators that power the freighter. I'm wondering if this vessel has diesel alternate generators.

Vertical wings, not wind generators. I saw a single handed sailing boat with vertical wings instead of traditional sails around 40 years ago.

@Petter Fun to think about how this design could enable safer ''single-hand'' sailing in future. I just want to know more about the stabilizing....I'm assuming there's a keel?

@LucyLoohoo it was long and narrow, with keel and rudder, and the two foil sails had a mast running up inside them, on which they could be rotated.

@Petter come on guys--let's take her out!

@LucyLoohoo How I would love to do so!

@Petter HAH! Here's what I learned, owning a sailboat--it's wonderful fun and your friends will show up in droves for a sail and then......once you're back at the dock, they all just thank you and fade away...leaving YOU to hose down the decks, clean off the spray, put away the lines, etc.

So--if we're going to play with this baby.....I WANT A CREW!
