Memories of Catholic Upbringing: “proof there is a god”
My parents were devout Catholics. Every lent my mother made a small shrine with candles , statue, rosaries etc. Each night after dinner the family would kneel on the hard floors (don’t get me started on catholic knees) and say prayers for an hour.
One day, little got up very early and noticed the candles were still lit. I thought it would fun to play with the little flame, so grabbed a few sheets of paper to capture a little flame. To my surprise - CONFLAGRATION! To add to the surprise, my mother watched in horror in the next room. Needless to say, there was a nice burn spot on the floor before she got it out.
And the proof of god? As a result of this we got soft wall to wall carpeting, and the last time we ever had that shrine, both of which me and my sibs had prayed for......

"Catholic Knees," LOL, reminds me of a joke I once heard.
A woman in her early 30's goes to her Doctor and complains about the large, very obvious callouses on both of her knees, she asks the Doctor if there is anything that he can suggest to either remove, stop or reduce the callouses.
The Doctor thinks for a few minutes and replies, " Well I suggest that you try to avoid using the Doggie position as much as possible for starters and try rubbing this lotion on your knees as it will help to soften the callouses."
The woman responds, " But Doctor my husband and I are devout Catholics, we would never consider using any sexual position other than the Missionary position."
"Then I suggest," answers the Doctor, " that you either reduce the time you spend on your knees praying OR carry a cushion with you everywhere you go, especially to Church and Mass."

LOL.....
