Taking our minds off politics for a moment ....

On Thursday the US reported a record daily rise in coronavirus cases, with more than 120,000 new infections.
That breaks the previous record (of 107,000) set just a day earlier on Wednesday.

Back to politics, (sort of)
Could this have a connection to "in person" voting?

It's going to be a nightmare

8 to 10 days prior .

The average incubation period is 5/6 days. Average means that there are shorter and longer intervals.

It could have but we do not know for sure. The safe way was to vote absentee or mail in and that's why this method was pushed at us. my polling place did social distancing but the mask was not required. Many are so narrow minded that they said the virus would go away once the election was over. That's right. They believed that the virus was created just to get rid of Donald Trump because impeachment did not work. Oh, come on. It is worldwide and not created by one of the American political parties. How would that work?

As for the virus itself, imagine a strong germ released into the air and just give it time. If it has no host it will weaken. It will also mutate. This is the curve they talk about. The key with this is whether you host that virus or not. Study of the Spanish Flu and what happened in 1918 to 1920 with it will help understanding COVID today. The sad part is the Americans who claim some religious right, Constitutional right, or god's protection. This behavior will not make it go away.

All the Trump rallies the days before seem to be a more likely cause. If other states election offices were as strict as mine, it doesn't seem like they'd be super spreader events.

An excellent contributor, no doubt about it.

No, while the in person voting will certain cause a small surge, the lag time is a week or more. Trump has decided to just let Covid-19 spread, and as the weather cools and people gather indoors more, it's spreading faster.

That makes a lot of sense.

The average incubation period is 5 or 6 days. In many cases it has taken only half that time - just as in other cases it has taken twice that time. The qualifying factor appears to be linked to the amount of virus that entered.

That’ll certainly cheer people up and take their mind of things @Petter! 😁👌

And this is helpful . . . how? The thing that takes my mind off the insanity in America are funny and cute animal videos, preferably cat/kitty, otters, the panda cam, all other animal videos. The old film noir movies are next in line. I think voters thought the madness would end with the election. It only further exposed more of what many tried to hide, the cruelty, racism and corruption close to 50% of Americans appear to have no problem with. That's not politics but it's expressed via the political process. 😟

He’s what we call over here in the U.K....a Job’s comforter!

@Marionville The Biblical reference is what made me giggle.

@silverotter11 The other biblical reference I could’ve used is “Petter is a Jeremiah”... or prophet of doom! Got to hand it to the Bible...it does come in useful for reference terms! 😁😂
