I was born, raised and beaten (by the good sisters) as a Catholic died and became a born again (which really opened my eyes ?) before I gained enough wisdom to be where I am today. But I can't help thinking of the hypocrisy that exists in just those two religions that I experienced someday I will share the Catholic experience but for now the evangelical one. My first experience In the warehouse someone behind me starting speaking in tongues then another and another to the point I expected to see someone slithering like a snake on the floor ?? But getting back to the point, I noticed most carried two bibles with one being the King James version! Well this really struck me as very odd because as many of you know they despise homosexuality but King James was flaming gay!!!
I've always wanted to go back to the warehouse and post a picture of him on the door with a caption saying "I was as gay as they come but you love my book" ???

Well why don't you rhen..think of the comparisons to Martin Luther...lol

It is simply called the King James Bible because it was written while he was king and back then it was always a good idea to honor the king. Actually, his sexuality has long been a matter of debate because he was not openly gay. He clearly preferred the company of handsome young men. The evidence of his correspondence and contemporary accounts have led some historians to conclude that the king was homosexual or bisexual. In fact, the issue is murky. But, that said, I have never met anyone who believes in the Bible who believes that King James was gay. Have you?

King James' childhood portraits look really gay. But I had no idea that he actually was! [en.wikipedia.org]

Didn't know King James was gay? And they named a bible after him?

He was the monarch who had it translated into English.

James was also an Occultist, but instigated witch hunts, he was one confused puppy.

I had not heard about James being gay but I'm sure the rationalization would be that god used even a pervert and reprobate to be a patron for this important translation.

To add to your sense of irony, there is a splinter movement within fundamentalism called "KJV only" which claims that not only did god inspire the Bible, he inspires the translation thereof, and the KJV is god's chosen translation "for the English speaking peoples". (To my knowledge they don't take a position on what god approves for Swahili speakers or Italians, etc).

Brilliant in it's absurd stupidity ... B' godbotherers!
Good observation @mordant

Wow what a combination! Catholic followed by godbotherers in warehouses. I'm glad that you have the ability to laugh at it.
I hope however that you have learnt and now found something worthwhile in life.

LOL! I hadn't thought about that, not that Christians care, since they voted for a sexual predator.

To be fair, James did marry Anne of Denmark and have three children. In those days, aristocrats were often bisexual, perhaps from the constant inbreeding.

In fact, most noble ladies knew to find more genetically suitable mates for their children than their inbred but aristocratic husbands, and most husbands were glad to allow their wives to do so, since most of them also had side lovers-again, with the blessings of their wives.

Wow, another one who wishes to insult fellow Americans based on false pretenses..
Lady, please show me proof of your accusations and I'll need links.
Because if not, you should probably stick to the subject at hand.
We don't need your political opinions.

To be Politically correct we currently have a Pervert in Chief so not much has changed since the days of Old. They were only interested in getting and Heir and a Wife who was Politically connected. Did they have any feelings for each other than what would benefit themselves. Even the Popes had wives in those days and mistresses and illegitimate children.
