srsly tho, we imbue (endue? endow? wtf ever) Yah with "character" i think, we anthropomorphise, but you might contemplate no character at all, maybe; reject the god of believers, iow, the Olde White Guy, etc, w/o completely disallowing for A Force Greater than Self?

As a christian for 30 years this is so true. You feel an obligation to thank god for every good thing and to blame Satan for every bad thing and you are accountable for nothing in your life. The one thing i learned though is no matter how much i praised god and had faith in him if i didn't get off my ass and work hard then nothing would ever get done.
Aren’t we all! The latest inanity I’ve seen by some friends on FB is saying they will give thanks to god when we get through this Covid pandemic. I presume that’s because they will assume that their prayers to keep them from catching it have been answered! Not a thought about the scientists, doctors and medical professionals who by their skill and use of scientific knowledge and expertise will have brought the disease under control. The lack of logic in their thought process is staggering.

Me also with most people, though I do stick to what is a part of my Cherokee heritage that says simply,
" Take ONLY what you need, Share with others what you have, IF you have a great excess of something then give ALL but that which you really need away to those that have less and need it more."
