Know what you mean. That's something else to blame the Chinese for.
It is 5th Nov here and also to a lesser extent new year.
A few years ago my dog disappeared on 5th Nov and I found her a few days later at a dog rescue centre on the edge of town. A local gamekeeper had found her wandering miles from home and took her to the rescue centre. She was obviously frightened by a firework. For the rest of her life any loud noise would scare her.
I have heard talk of silent fireworks but I doubt if that is possible.

Chinese people are NOT to blame for idiot, selfish jerks who illegally set off fireworks.

Yesterday in France and Germany, two young men were killed by shooting off banned fireworks. One young man blew his head partially off and died instantly. He went back to investigate why a firework didn't go off. KA-BOOM!

That's irrelevant. If a Chinese monk had not invented fireworks, another person would have. Males love loud noises and explosions.
