"America’s 1st Moonshine, Applejack, Returns in Sleeker Style."

"From the Blue Ridge Mountains to Vermont, new distillers are reviving a drink . . . Applejack was traditionally produced from the hard cider that was the everyday drink for most Americans in the 18th century. Naturally fermented and low in alcohol, hard cider was safer than well water, cheaper than beer and easy to make at home." [nytimes.com]

Have you tried or made Hard Cider or Applejack?

Thanks!
I watched the movie 'The Botany of Desire," and now believe I should so again. Here is one preview.

@AnonySchmoose So did I, and (of course) the book is better. I have also read his "The Omnivore's Dilemma" and "How to Change your Mind" (psychedelics). πŸ™‚

@FearlessFly
Thanks for the recommendations.😊

I make hard cider and apple cider vinegar from the heritage apple trees in my back yard, a few years ago I distilled some but the reflux still I used stripped all the apple flavour and left me with a potent white lightning of around 160 proof.

Holy Rocket fuel . . . 160 proof. 😲 😲 😲
Maybe I should plant apple trees instead of mangoes . . . .

@AnonySchmoose it takes decades to get apple trees to be fully productive, mine are close to a century old but they still produce lots of apples and that attracts the neighbour's cows.

@Surfpirate
Lovely pastoral setting!
Those cows ready, willing, and able to fertilize the apple trees.

@AnonySchmoose yes, they are great fertilizers, they also fertilized my driveway and my garden, the garden they trampled first and then shit all over after that. Country living, what can you do? lol

No, but I will get some as soon as I can.

On New Year's we got some for our neighbor and ourselves. It is delicious and refreshing.
