Do you think that Charles Darwin's wife influenced him by religion? What about losing his daughter and the negative energy that he faced while writing? Do you think that he could have done more?

Actually Darwin's father was a Preacher according to his biography.
It was EXPECTED that Darwin would follow in his father's footsteps, thankfully Darwin did NOT.

It is so easy to judge people in history using our modern day references.

i guess he was pretty religious anyway? And even if all of his theories arent holding up so well now, for the time i guess they were pretty radical

there may be some bits of his theory that is iffy, but the concept of evolution by natural selection is considered proven. anyone who does not believe that species evolve needs to think about the various new iterations of the Covid beast.

And, his paternal grandfather had somewhat paved the way to his line of thought.

@BirdMan1 i don't think it is species evolving that is being challenged? i forget the actual arguments now, more about selection maybe?

@bbyrd009 Evolution runs on natural selection, which, in turn runs on naturally occurring mutations that provide a benefit in reproductive capacity. If a mutation occurs that gives a discrete group of a species a reproductive advantage, it either spreads through the entire species, or it stays within the sub-group, for whatever reason (perhaps a geographic boundary) as in the Galapagos Islands, and we have speciation. Horses, donkeys and zebras developed from a common ancestor, some 4.5 to 5 million years ago. Horses and donkeys can interbreed, but their offspring, mules, are all sterile, due to a chromosomal mismatch. So, the ancient speciation is set in stone, as it were.

Jesus maybe the most popular person in history. Yet Darwin had more influence toward the origins of the species and evolution than anyone. Darwin is like the father awareness of Evolution. Evolution crosses more cultures, religions, education systems and people than any source that i know of about nature. Nature is my religion, and love it most.

What a stupid asshole response.

@Mofo1953
Are you trolling me?
Assholes shit on everyone, why don't kiss some from your state and bankers.

@Castlepaloma i comment as I see things. Not even following idiots like you but if you post shit like this don't bitch when anybody ppints out your stupidity. As for the last sentence of this post, how is this not a moronic cretinous sentence?

What the fuck do you mean about doing more? The theory he developed is thoroughly accepted by science and has proven to be a universally accepted fact. To say he could have done more is just asinine.

To the best of my knowledge there are two poles in the electrical field, positive and negative. I know that it has become fashionable over the years for some people to refer to their emotional states as 'positive energy ' and 'negative energy' when it is nothing other than their personal likes and dislikes about what is occurring within or around them.

It seems to me that the notion of 'negative energy' is a form of anthropomorphism that seeks to provide an 'explanation' for a state of affairs that is either occurring in the present or occurred in the past about which is based some kind of speculation or unreasonable expectation(s). In the minds of the people who think in terms of 'negative energy' and 'positive energy', scientism provides a rich source of 'explanations' and excuses.

He was religious, in fact, at one point was on the verge of becoming a pastor, I believe. I do not know what impact his wife did or did not, have on his writing.

From what I have read regarding Darwin, his wife encouraged him to write his Theories of Evolution and the Origins of the Species even though she was religious.
Also, Darwin's daughter was his main research assistant when he was married and was back home in England.

Darwin did more than most people ever do.
Personally, I don't find it reasonable to expect that he "could have done more".
His contributions are immeasurable.

Darwin could have done more about what? People around him were all religious including his wife. Darwin was also religious. Just what negative energy are you talking about?

@Detached I've neer heard, or read, about such a thing. I have a feeling that what you are referring to is myth. I doubt that religious people, in general, even knew he was writing his "Origins." He did not yet seriously consider publishing it until he learned of Alfred Russell Wallace's preparations to publish virtually the same theory. The work of the 2 of them was presented to the British Royal Society at the same meeting.

@Detached ummm, who, exactly? Never heard of this, your source?
