We none Americans on here sometimes have difficulty understanding, the US affairs that appear frequently on this site, and why some things, seem so important to some of our friends over there. But for those like me, who are trying to get there, it may be worth thinking about this.

There is an old principle in politics, ( traceable back to at least Machiavelli in the sixteenth century ) which is that, if you have a lot of big difficult issues, which you can not, or will not, resolve, or no issues at all you care to resolve. Then what you do, is to take a trivial, even none existent issue, perhaps one you invent, and promote it as something very important. Preferably by using very emotive language, and appealing to deep rooted pride and prejudice.

Because it is trivial, or does not really exist, it is easy and cost free to resolve, or may not even need addressing, but while they are distracted by the trivial issue, nobody notices that you have achieved nothing else.

Not that I would say, that the issues of, freedom from wearing a tiny tissue paper mask etc, promoted by certain political groups, and former governments over there, is trivial or some how a Machiavellian ploy. You may not think it is that clever. Its up to you to judge, just pointing out a little history.....

Mask wearing and shutdowns are becoming political issues everywhere but I agree compared to the big picture they are not big issues.

If only the maga cult had some Machiavellian mastermind controlling it. Or even the corporate powers, this isn't a chess game, it's Monopoly, you need a minimum amount of skill but it's mostly luck and short term opportunity.

....and the support of billionaires
