Also, I am a gun owner. No one is talking about taking everyone's guns away. The majority of people want universal background checks. And, the idea of mass numbers of people walking around armed is just ridiculous and a recipe for disaster.

It’s funny how the gun free zones have the highest gun crimes and the pro gun locations have the lowest. It’s almost like restricting guns only benefits the criminals.

@CourtJester :No one suggests that all violent crime can be stopped/prevented. No one is saying take all guns away. And, again, it is a recipe for disaster to have more and more people carrying guns around in public.

In a heated situation, how will the cops be able to determine who is the "good guy" with a gun, or who is the bad guy? And, don't kid yourself, black and brown people will more often be determined to be the bad guy.

@Joanne The police will determine it the exact same way they have been for the past few hundred years. I’m not seeing the issue from that aspect.
As for playing the race card; a criminal is a criminal regardless of their race.

@TheInterlooper I'm familiar with the crap the NRA makes up. Yes, guns do prevent some crime and I have no problem with responsible gun ownership. However if flooding the country with guns reduced crime, the USA would be a crime free paradise. It's not, and it has a shocking level of gun violence to boot. And having a gun in one's home dramatically increases the odds someone in that home will be a victim of gun violence, so it's pretty safe to say "Moar guns" isn't the answer.

@Druvius Mexico has strick gun laws and has major problems with killings by criminal drug gangs as the criminals are the only ones who have guns.

People have a right to own guns, that point was granted in 2008. But like driving cars and countless other things, it's not an unfettered right.
