Not sure if anyone has any interest in this, but I'm curious if any of you have favorite record album covers. If so, please share.
I know I do, and used to spend many hours examining the art and photos on my LP covers. I suppose that's not much of a thing in the digital age, but here is an oldie that comes to mind. It was kind of provocative at the time, believe it or not.
David Bowie - Diamond Dogs, RCA Records, 1974.
Album covers really are a lost art, which is a shame. This is probably my most treasured. It's a David Bowie dual-album import that I found in a headshop when I was a kid.
I love the debut album of pseudo-novelty band Miniature Tigers. My apologies for not knowing how to include a picture directly to this post!
No worries. Cute cover.
Some great pics here! One of my faves is the Beatles "Revolver". Another one (which is little now) is Rodney on the Roq, Vol 1!
Speaking of Beatles, the "Butcher Cover" is another classic! [rollingstone.com]
Don'thave my albums anymore-my ex trashedthem after a flood in my basement. Remember those album covers like yesterday.

During the 70's there were some album covers that under acid influence came into a total new light and even meaning, specially the inner artwork in the double linners. I remember the album "Procession" from a British band and "Mandril" inner cover (2nd or 3rd album). There were many more. Another casualty of "future making things better". A lost art. How many of you bought an album just by the cover? I know I did.
Yep. Speaking of covers under acid, this one very distinctly comes to mind:
@MollyBell Thank you... that would had melted my brain in little colored crystals tasting like gummy bears in a summer rain in winter. Great Cover.
I used to manage a Musicland in Mobile, AL in the mid 90's. I had always been into music (played a few instruments - played at a few others), but the experience really opened my eyes to the awesome artwork that is on so many album covers. 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' has a lot in the imagery. 'Sgt. Peppers' is as much a piece of art as it is social commentary for the time.
There is so much out there, covering such a span of time, that I find it impossible for me to really pick favorites.
Lol, I hear ya. I could rattle off a bunch of 'em. I spent a lot of time in an herb induced trance back in the 70s, listening to albums while staring at the covers. Lol, those covers used to come in handy for de-seeding the herbs, which I just now recalled; but I digress. ?
Yes, I like Sgt Pepper very much. Also like the Velvet Underground's Andy Warhol Banana cover very much, it changed the way we think about bananas
