A friend posted online asking what if we could live forever. So I told him this and I to believe it. In a way we all do live forever. I believe in reincarnation. That when we die our souls transfer to a new body that is a child being born. Our souls remember everything that head ever happened to is and we have always existed. As we travel from body to body some times we remember things that happened to us in a former life through our souls because our souls do remember everything. This is the reason for part life recall. We subconsciously remember everything everything or soul knows. So we in essence do live forever. So he asked what about Haven and hell? And God and Satan? I responded they are figments made up by people to give purpose to thier lives because apparently to live is not enough for them. There are no gods or demons. There is a spark in all things that connects all things. That spark is life and our connection to that spark is our souls. Life created it's self through the shear want to exist and that spark of life is in everything. We are here because we want to be. And to LIVE is the meaning of life. It is a huge thing to live. Love your life as you want as long as you don't interfere with others lives. Be yourself and be happy. No one but you can decide who you are or want you want to be. Make your life there best you can, because we all love forever and you will remember it from life to life through your soul. We have had many conversationsv about this and my beliefs. I have given him some peace through my understanding and interpretarion of all things. Love your life as it makes you happy but don't interfere in others live alone the way.

Belief in reincarnation requires belief in a soul that can transmigrate, I'm afraid I can fin no proof of that or any reasonable reason to believe in it.
I have read the Bloxam tapes and following up on it have found that all (without exception) of his cases have been debunked.
I have read books on regression therapy and again have discovered that in the majority of cases it can be proven that the experiences of the subjects are either wildly inaccurate or come from long forgotten book or films experienced years before, but held in the subconscious.
I would be fascinated to know of any laboratory condition testing and cases that have not or cannot be debunked, and would if provided with supporting evidence seriously consider reassessing my opinion.
But at the moment I have to remain sceptical.

OH feck no
Imortality would be curse, I cannot think of anything worse than a never ending life with no hope of release ever.
You would be eternally lonely, eternally bored, frrustrated, no relase from pain or desair.
Any god that would do that to a person would be a devil indeed.

And on the subject of a soul

I haven't remembered being a baby let alone a human from another time.

My grandfather passed away a few weeks ago, and I gave a eulogy for him in the church. Whereas the priest and others spoke of magical eternal life, I focused on the impact he had on others, the stories he time, and his sense of humor. I am an uncle to two of the greatest little boys on the planet, and I tell them some of the same stories, Joe's, and riddles he shared with me. So in that way, his legacy continues to live, in a concrete way, here on Earth.

I don't purport to know what happens after we draw out last breaths, but I want to live in a manner where other folks take a little piece of my personality with them and pass it down like my grandpa did (even if we disagreed fundamentally on ideological grounds).

Apparently people don't understand the concept of not being negative toward other people's opinions. I should start reporting the ones who want to act like asses toward others on here. If you don't agree with me fine, but don't be a dooshbag about it.

How do you feel about some good old fashioned derision ?

Apparently people don't understand the concept of a discussion forum, as opposed to a preaching pulpit?

"Not being negative toward other people's opinions" ... let me guess, this means you are supposed to express your opinion, then all of us are supposed to agree with it. Right?

A co -worker ask me once since I don't believe in god what happens after I die. I said I don't know. Then I said after life? I said the only after life I want is to feel my daughter and grandkids will get thru life ok.From the daughter I raised who is very religious(which is my fault) but is also the best person I know but I consider that in spite of her religious belief. That is all the afterlife I need

Well then you believe in magical thinking with no supporting evidence. At some point you will likely be a former atheist. Good luck with that.

There is no magical component to it. And there is fact and proof. Sorry that you flawed science can't prove anything let alone everything. And I am a definite atheist. Have a nice day. By the way if you can't state your opinion with out being an ass about it then that shows how pathetic you really are. I feel sorry for you.

@KingPeep Where is your evidence that reincarnation happens? Do you have any evidence that a spirit lives on after the body dies? Or are you just spouting unsupported assertions??

"Reincarnation can and has been tested. "

Really? Source please. All the research Imhave seen on this has debunked the idea.

We all remain part of the universe forever. Our component parts are recycled - food for worms if we are buried or our final contribution to climate change if we are cremated. But so for as we know, that's it.

Don't you find it odd that those who claim to have been reincarnated were always princesses in a previous life?

No they were not always princess or king. Infact most claim to be nothing more than normal ordinary people.

@KingPeep And still offering no evidence at all!!

I,m happy for you that you think you have a soul. I agree to a certain extent that you never die totally as your remains are ' re- cycled ' as nutrients etc , trouble is you'll be dead and won't know anything about it .

I was born remembering a past life, as did my youngest sister. I have since remembered a number of them, and even googled the details of some of the most recent past life incidents and found my memories to be accurate.

Whenever I access the memories of a past life, I temporarily remember many of them, and become aware of the people who have been recarnating with me, and playing various roles in my life over the centuries. I even accessed the memories of when I was an ancient wolf, living somewhere near Canada.
I had to laugh because that's what I do..like a wolf, I constantly "hunt" wild animals and birds, but only to photograph, and feel the happiest when out in the wilderness.

@Renickulous LOL! There has been extensive research done on past lives remembered by children ages 2-6 years old, world wide, The facts of their past life memories were carefully verified. Try to read up on stuff before commenting.

great post--agree with it all

The mind functions ONLY due to the energy the body produces to keep it alive. without an energy source the mind is dead. But the atoms live on and do indeed join with other atoms forming something. If you have ever gone under for a surgery, this is what it must be like without the mind functioning at all. NOT even a peep. wake up and realize you as a human were not present for the past hour as they cut you open. No way does the mind continue without batteries

The only "rational" construction for an "afterlife" I have come up with, is the idea that we are like a "cell" in a great cosmic "body". In the same way cells live and die in your body, and still your awareness flows smoothly from one moment to the next... so too, our little "identity" participates in the great "soul" (not my choice of word) of life, which persists before and after our own "small" living experience. If something like this is the case, I see no reason to believe that anything associated with our personality, ego or individual experience on earth is in any way "saved" for another life. If anything, I think there may be a moment as you are transitioning states, where you "realize" that everything you just experienced in your whole life is insignificant, and not worth saving, even if you could... it would be like saving your dandruff. Changing the scale of perception also changes the scale of "meaning".

...to be clear, the revelation of insignificance is not a sad revelation.. it's a joyous one. It means all the stuff that caused you the greatest suffering, your attachments, desires, perceived disappointments and failures... aren't that big a deal. "Just existing was enough. You did your job, relax."

Just saw a very moving movie "A Dog's Purpose" where a dog lives several reincarnated lives. Too bad there is no scientific proof.

I have a friend who has earnestly, and repeatedly recommended a book with the same name (I'm a new dog owner). I didn't know there was a film... gotta be the same source material, yeah?

I'm planning to live forever... So far so good!

I've always liked that idea, and have no problem with people who believe it. They are almost always cool, don't try to control or pass judgement on me, and it's a cool idea. It also doesn't try to undermine science....As an atheist we can get along

How does this explain the increase in the world population. Not enough souls to go around.

No. Souls coming from other worlds to reside here. We are not alone in this universe and we have lived in more than one place in it.

remember people died at birth in most cases in the pass. that if I was arguing the point

All these answers are nonsensicle. Thier is no scientific proof for them. They are just religious crap.
