I don’t really know what you mean by “not supposed to disown your parents.” Maybe you’re being facetious … hard to tell without prolific use of emojis. 
I myself have cut my mother out of my life because she sucks. I didn’t tell her outright that I “disowned” her. I just stopped communicating.

He's 21 years old. He might have more financial resources than his parents. He doesn't have to kiss her ass. She might be a horrible person. I wouldn't disown a family member over their politics though. That's pretty stupid.

I bet there’s more to it than this woman lets on. It may have simply been the straw that broke the camel’s back. Many family relationships suck.
