When a majority of Republicans believe the election was stolen (with zero evidence) and 53% still believe Trump is actually president, one may begin to wonder.
Regarding the lecture, psychiatry is not exactly known for being a hard science where every sentence is meant to be heard as literal truth. If you interpret the remarks as the ventilation of a deeply frustrated person, it makes perfect sense.
If a person is fearful of non-whites, they may well understand the remarks as literal threats and insults. Such a person is almost certainly one of the lie-believing republicans.
