In the April/May edition of "Free Inquiry" was a long article 'Post-Humans on a Sterile Promontory: The New Myths of Trans-humans and the Dark Mountain (see even the title is long). I did post an item about "Dark Mountain" which I find extremely interesting. The different groups emerging today are highlighted and the one about AI (#10) was addressed: "These are my people! I think to myself. These folks understand that we need to overcome the frustrating limits of these corporeal meat-sacks we galumph about in, get past the mere scramble for survival, satiation and status they grudgingly allow us, and take full advantage of the potential we accidents of evolution posses, whatsoever that might be. So, what's next." (even some of the sentences are long). Still I found the article extremely interesting. Also, the #1 issue, under which all the other ten depend, is simply over (human) population. All these other items a dependent on numbers. BTW the Fermi paradox is the apparent contradiction between the lack of evidence for extraterrestrial civilizations and various high estimates for their probability. Again, in that same magazine under the title: "Is Intelligence Toxic" the author describes the flaw in the Fermi Paradox.

Yep.

Plus. Population growth, increasing habitat lose (beyond that caused by climate change,) more pandemics bound to happen, wastage of rare resources, plastic pollution, and overfishing. I think that brings his ten up to sixteen, but no doubt you can add more.

Saying we're effed results from having once believed there was a Golden Age. They lied.

I love the "And stuff" part of her sign.

I really do believe in #10.

Yes. Eventually we will destroy ourselves and the planet.

We're well on our way, unfortunately.
