Cicadas. Anyone hear them or see them yet? In my area of mid Missouri they should be singing like crazy and be all over the trees by now, but I've not seen or heard a single one. No shells on the trees and no cicadas. I heard that one landed on Biden in the UK. Maybe they have more of them than we do.

Up in St Louis here, I heard one in a tree at the very beginning. Not a one since and my complex is full of older trees, 30-50' tall maples.

Haven’t heard any in Yuma in the five years I have lived here. I think they prefer a wetter climate.

This is the year for Brood X which has been strongest in Indiana, Ohio, Maryland and southern Pennsylvania. Your state appears to be headed for a 13 (not 17) year cicada ‘revival’ in 2024 from Brood XIX!

Thanks for the info. Now I know why I have not seen them this year.

I haven't seen one in my town in SE Pennsylvania. Where are they?

@Organist1 According to the map, if you’re near Jersey you’re probably in Brood II territory, which last emerged in 2013. Wait til 2030?
