Anyone chose to not have kids and living life happily without them? I was sterilized at 24 and never looked back, but dating people at 40 who don't have kids and are or are OK with you being an atheist, in the south (Virginia) is pretty much Null... Moot.......Defeating. So I just focus on all the awesome that is my life instead.

You bet! I am an adult who really enjoys living in an adult world! I have always preferred having four-footed, furry friends to having children, and as opposed to most people in general if truth be told. I also live in the South—Texas—very babyville, republiCon and bible belt. I feel like an alien sometimes, but don’t wish to be anything else I see around me, lol.

By the time of was thirty I knew I wouldn't have kids. I got over it.

I had enough trouble taking care of myself for a long time, so I didn't want the added responsibility of being a parent. I'm in a better place now emotionally, but I still don't have the physical or financial resources to take care of a child, even if I was to adopt because I'm also way past childbearing age. Some people have told me I would have made a wonderful parent, but I'm happy being a wonderful aunt to my two nieces and two nephews.

I never wanted kids, so I chose not to. Even before I came out as transgender. Even before my parents reminded me I was the last of their bloodline as their only child. Even before I got cancer and did 12 chemotherapy sessions.
It would be irresponsible to bring new life into a world so violent, perverse, and expensive.

Kids. Hmmm. I have an evolving relationship with them.

I'm 50, a year out of a 24 year old marriage - no kids, no pets, but a shit tonne of board games and CDs.

We never wanted kids, so never had them. I have always felt vaguely nervous around them. But, lately, I have found myself inflicted upon by friends who have them.

And they (the kids) are not as quite bad as I thought.

But I sure as shit still don't want any of my own.

I've never felt an overwhelming urge to spawn. Stepkids are fine for me.

24 - yeah, me too ! Never looked back, or regretted my choice. I always figured if I changed my mind, there's gazillions of kids out there (not unlike all the excess animals), who needs homes.
And though I've adopted plenty of critters over the years, the kid thing never happened. Fine with me.
I have dated a few people with adult kids however, and I'm ok with that - especially if they don't play too pivotal a role in the parents' lives.

I never wanted kids, but glad I had them. I went out with a lady a few years back, and she was horrified by the amount of interaction I have with mine and their friends. It totally freaked her out.
That said, I admire people who are not having children. We are over populated, my kids have at this point chosen not to have biological children.

I haven't got children either and I'm fine with it.

No kids and can't imagine what life would be like to have them other than extremely difficult.
