Craig was closest to the character. Brosnan got screwed by them trying to PC Bond...Dalton got one of the worst scripts I had ever seen (okay, that isn't true...but it was bad...more a made for tv type bond) Sean Connery was okay, but as dumb as a box of bricks, Roger Moore had a great dry wit and was smooth...all things Ian Fleming's Bond was not....but I liked him the best...Lazenby...don't even remember...and I am not much of a Bond enthusiast.

Sean Connery. Whenever I think of James Bond I picture Sean Connery

Roger Moore! Next would be Sean Connery. Dalton and Brosnan were hacks at best in my opinion ( think about Tom Cruise trying to play 007). Was unaware of Lazenby.

Connery, Sean Connery : The Once and True Bond

Connery if you want a cheeky characterful Bond, Craig if you want someone to seem like a genuine, slightly bitter Naval officer with special ops skills.

RM was the first Bond I ever watched in the Cinema, so I have a soft spot, though he did make probably the worst Bond film ever.
But as a life long reader and fan of the books Dalton was probably the most faithful portayal.

Connery for me. I do understand that for the Bond franchise to last as long as it has the character has had to change in ways to be relatable to the audience as things change in society. I like Craig a lot.

As bond not...like...actually grew up with him lol

It's a toss up between Connery's Bond and Craig's Bond. Though, I can see Craig's Bond in real world situations. The others seem to be flat charactertures.
