I lived with my dads parents from ages 3-9 and went to METHODIST church/Sunday school. Lived with dad and step mom for the next 10 yrs, we lived in a Moslem country for 2 yrs and went to a FRENCH CATHOLIC boarding school incountry,. My parents pretty much let me decide. My dad was an astronomer and stated his church was the observatory and he viewed god at night in the telescope. As an adult, I married in LUTHERN and was comfortable with them as they did not have expectations or guilt trips ! Now am a non beleiver, I have viewed too much hypocrisy, and too many wars based on religions !

I was slow-roasted as a Methodist.

I was raised Lutheran. I've heard it said that it's about as close to Catholicism as you can get without being Catholic. I went through catechism and took communion. (It was after catechism classes with a bunch of fellow Lutheran youngsters that I first smoked pot!)

What I remember most about that church, though, is that the congregation contained some of the most judgemental people I've ever known. That judgementalism really had nothing to do with my rejection of the idea of deities, but it is something that I remember from my youth before I began to doubt what I had been taught.

I was raised a Lutheran and my parents made to go to sunday school which I hated because kids picked on me. I would pray to some "God" that didn't exist to have kids around me leave me alone as well as adults abusing me in school to leave me alone it didn't work. I would also pray that I would be a major league baseball player as a kid but I should of realized that I didn't have athletic ability but then again I thought that "God" answered everybody's prayers. It's been 2 years since I became an Atheist and I'm much happier now.

Great point, Flusaguy. Guilt. They are big on that, and ram it down your throat at an early age. I still feel it.

Catlolic . One of the most archaic religious cults

I was raised protestant, became catholic, then I was atheist, and now I'm agnostic

I was raised Methodist, but I didn't ever believe, not even as a young child. I don't know why.

I was raised in Reform Judaism. After 10 years of Sunday School declared my non-belief in god. Refused to go to Hebrew School. As punishment my parents sent me on a Bible Study Tour of Israel.

Oddly enough, I was never religious. A quirk of date really. My father was jack Mormon and my mother was a non practicing Congregationalist. They divorced when I was 3, and I grew up in a religious vacuum surrounded by judge mental Mormons. I wasn’t pushed at home to be anything, and I resented the ostracism from the Mormons, so, I became anti religious.

I can’t imagine what you have been through. I was left by my mother to make my own mind up. Wasn’t even baptised.

I was raised in the Jehovah's Witnesses religion...they have some similarities with Mormonism.
