Oh! Shit!

The volcano on La Palma is erupting.
This is the island that could cause a mega tsunami all along our east coast in the US.

I've noticed that a great many nuclear power plants are located along the US east coast. Fukushima again...and again...and again?

The question is, what is the magnitude of any associated earthquakes? Because THAT is what could cause a tsunami, seismic activity.

Maybe it will take out Florida. Golly that would be a shame. 🙂

It appears to be venting a good 10k venting from the main volcano. The western flank of the volcano is the main concern in any eruptions on La Palma. If that flank dislodged and slips into the Atlantic, it would cause a tsunami of biblical proportion. It would take approximately 6 hours to reach the East Coast and devastate everything from Argentina to Maine.
Say buhbye Florida, P.R, Cuba and all the those lovely islands and peoples..the effects would would be catastrophic for the entire Western Hemisphere.

You must have watched the same thing I did a few years back. Won't mind if trump and family were stuck at Mar-a-lago. 😁
Seriously, it would be horrendous.

To be sure that’s a worst case scenario, but I’m not up for even a tiny six foot tsunami. But to be sure it ranges from we’re lucky and it’ll never be a problem to an epic disaster we can’t imagine. It’s not as if we have control of anything, that takes sciencing the shit out of it or denying the whole of science for cultural reasons.
We should seek knowledge like a man on fire seeks water.

@silverotter11 yeah it would be epicly disastrous..but the Trump syndicate wiped out would be lovely.

@silverotter11, @Willow_Wisp I'm hoping they're looking into ways to lessen that catastrophic eventuality..

Yep. I've been watching it for years. The experts say there is a small chance it could collapse. But this could be bad.

OH!MY! I read about this island several years ago. I can hear the evangeloons now. The end is near. It of course well could be, stand by while your local stations cover everything else.

I think we are safe here in Washington though.

@PondartIncbendog We are over due for a big one here in WA State.

@silverotter11 Thanks. And I live in Ocean Shores. I'll know about it first.

@PondartIncbendog Do you ever watch Nick Zentner's geology videos on youtube?

@silverotter11 I'm not sure. I watch a lot of science stuff.

@PondartIncbendog On youtube just put Nick Zentner's name and a bunch of his video's will pop up. He studiies the geology of the Pacific Northwest. He teaches at CWU in Ellensburg.
