Does the belief in an afterlife make people more likely to kill? For example, we all know that some people that are not guilty do get sentenced to death. Is this thought to be OK, because if they are not guilty, they will still have eternal life? So it is alright if we accidentally kill the wrong person. It all works out in the end.

But if you do not believe in an afterlife, your understanding is that by killing someone you are taking away everything. Snuffing out ones existence forever.
