Do you think we are going to be having a Civil War soon? I would like to hear some comments by people cause I am out here in the west where I have no idea what is going on in other places.

We are currently in a political civil war. This is why everything is so crazy right now. Social media views and QAnon junk muddy up real values and ideas. Many Trumpers still think he is president but they do not understand why he is not coming forward. Confusion rules.

There is NO chance of a USA Civil War. No State has even thought about leaving the Union.

I can't imagine Americans interfering in a democratically elected government this coming Saturday other than someone else's.

I think there already is a civil war, but fought mostly on social media. Aside from the insurrectionists who infiltrated the capitol, most Americans are pretty lazy and are far more fierce online than in person. Just my opinion, and I don't know very much. I live pretty far away from any civil disobedience and political skirmishes.

I hope everyone here does, I do not want to hear of anyone here being harmed.

Of course a bunch of over weight rednecks with double digit IQs and Wal-Mart weaponry are going to start a civil war. Might they cause some problems occasionally, maybe. This is not the 1800s when everyone had the same weapons. The U.S. military has tanks, drones, and the best equipped military on the planet. What do you think?

Probably not. Red and blue are mixed in every state. Christians and non religious people are mixed in every state. This country is so diverse in its beliefs that noone would agree on what to fight about.

Read:

"Becoming a Domestic Terrorist - How three self-styled 'patriots' were led to lethal plot" by Mike Levine, ABC News. November 1, 2021

A farmer and two mobile-home salesmen in Kansas plotted a horrifying attack.

In the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign, four militia men in Kansas were finalizing their own campaign : a plot to bomb the mosque and homes of Muslim refugees in the small town of Garden City, Kansas.

“I’m a domestic terrorist on a f---ing federal government list right now,” the plot's ringleader, Patrick Stein, was recorded saying before the FBI made arrests in October 2016.

It was an attack authorities said could have eclipsed the Oklahoma City bombing.

But one of the men, Dan Day, was actually an FBI informant, who over several months secretly recorded hundreds of hours with the small militia and derailed their deadly plot.

In a series of exclusive interviews with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, Day and his family described what they endured for months as Day worked for the FBI. His story is told in the new ABC News documentary, “The Informant: Fear and Faith in the Heartland,” now available on Hulu .

Like you I'm in the west. My advice - ignore it & try to get on with your own life.

To have a civil war, one needs actual armies, generals, etc. Probably a lot of gun nuts want a chance to use their guns, but it's unclear who the target would be. What happened to Greenwood/Tulsa might be an example. However, I am inclined to believe that people who don't like Trump have a higher level of frustration and motivation than actual Trump supporters. Much of their motivation comes from the pulpit, and once churches make themselves targets, and are burned down, their ardor for white grievance will wane.

Unlikely some red state politicians might like to for the power but the populace won't go it

Doubtful. What exactly would we be fighting over? This isn't the 1800's anymore. If a state or region of the U.S. for some reason voted to secede (which is not even Constitutional) the U.S. military could overwhelmingly re-take the state.

Regardless of what the wannabe Rambos and nutjob militia groups think, they wouldn't stand a fart of a chance against the U.S. military. What's a semi-auto and a few home made pipe bombs against tanks and drones and military personnel who are actually trained and in shape?

Also, even the most red states in the U.S. would likely support seccession 100%. There's almost certainly democrats, liberals, and a few sane republicans in every state that would be agains secession and might even work against those who seceded.

I think worst case scenario is that a bunch of militia, white supremacists, and neo-nazi wannabes might start riots and civil unrest. But personally I think this is unlikely.

That's my 2 cents worth. 🙂

@Charles1971

Well said. I agree with your intelligent and funny assessment. Thanks.

No, I do not believe there will be a civil war soon.

Read the news online: CNN, ABC, NBC, ABC.

The latest horrific news is in Afghanistan, fathers are selling their daughters as young as age four for marriage to old men in their 60s and 70s. To feed their remaining family members (sons). Only males can go to school. Foreign aid has stopped because the Taliban is in charge.
