Should Pluto be a planet again? The debate rages on
A group of researchers say Pluto was unfairly maligned by a decision to relegate it to "dwarf planet" status — and that we should consider our solar system to have more than 150 planets.

I am always worried about Pluto the planet. When I was younger he was a Disney dog.

This is a topic I constantly think about. Thus far I have read 26,041 reference books on the subject and taken copious notes. I plan to read many more text books and when done I will compile the results and publish same for consideration.

I have more serious thing to be concerned about.

Hey, if Uranus is a planet despite all the jokes, then Pluto should be one too, once again!

The taxonomy of planet, like all taxonomy is not a part of science, but only a form of classification, which is a tool for filing in the service of scientists, but not science, and is always subjective. Nobody is therefore being anti science, if they choose to disagree with the I.A.U. and use their own classification, and I believe that even within the I.A.U. the vote was very close.

Pluto definitely got a raw deal.

Another case of beating up the little guy.

I'd like to consider Pluto a planet no matter which rules they follow, however I'm not ready to call Europa and other moons, including our own, planets. No scientific reason, just my own feelings. 😉

Yes it should. They made a decision even before that spacecraft passed by with the first real pictures of the planet. Now that's good science right? Make a decision before the craft arrived. I think not. All they had before were fuzzy pics. Honestly, I have heard Neil Degrass Tyson justify that Pluto decision and he's about as convincing as his arguments that all UFO pics and films are the result of faulty electronics, including 100 million dollar fighter aircraft with top gun pilots. Pluto should be returned to active duty as a planet. It's got moons going around it, for frigs sake. Sounds planetary to me.

Isn't a "dwarf" planet still a "planet"? I always thought it was really stupid to change its designation.

i think really it's up to pluto. anyone ask?

yes I was going to say it was blatant discrimination and must violate The Anti-Discrimination Act of Australia 1991
