A few days ago a comment described anger at an unnamed person, saying “You know who you are!” I ignored it but remembered the passive-aggressiveness my parents had taught their kids.

In time I learned assertiveness — being able to say I like or dislike something or want it to stop. I’m very glad I had no kids to whom I would have taught p-a.

What say you?

Changing the aggressiveness ' template ' that parents pass on to their kids is the most difficult task that society has to face. Teachers are ignored in this respect if the parents themselves have an aggressive approach to society. It involves intervention into the relationship between young teenagers and their parents. But teenage is too late to start altering aggressive behavior.

Passive-aggressive differs from aggressive.

Do UK folk say “…differs to….”?

Do you know who you are? I know who I am.

but you are "just looking in a mirror" to see yourself . ref Robbie Burns . In your case that will produce an acceptable view I am sure
Other people can see things in the rest of the world that you have influenced and you will never see.
