Every other Tuesday is "Watch em' Burn" day in Heaven. They pop some corn and sit around viewing images of the damned being righteously tormented on cable network GODTV.

How could anyone enjoy heaven if they know their family is burning in hell. How can a creator torture people when he designed them and gave them the desire to sin in first place. It’s completely crazy. It’s a lazy way to control people similar to parents telling young kids if they don’t act right then the boogey man will get them

All the christers in the audience are rubbing their hands together saying "Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!"

Works the same as politics, as long as you can make them feel like someone is worse off then them, suddenly they are an ally

Thats all religion has as a convincing tool...they fear death...they fear the inevitable...that's their control factor. I for one am not going to waste my precious time praying to some imaginary deity(made in the image of man 😂) so that I might spend ETERNITY paying homage and praying to some imaginary deity(again ... Made in the image of man)...oh and this deity is prejudiced and thinks slavery is fine...FUCK THAT.

I think that's a prime motivation for them.

My problem is am stunned & saddened that anyone would waste one nanosecond of their only life thinking about this BS!

Hell is a genocide fantasy.

And yet many are just fine with that

Some of them look forward to that part with anticipation.

@RhondaShotwell truth!

Christianity is a death cult.

@creative51 Agree. Drink the wine and chew the wafer

Once l reached the age of reason, l thought it was a ridiculous concept.

There was a time where I thought if I blasphemed, a literal lightning bolt would strike me dead. Thanks mom and dad…….

Funny thing is, my belief in Santa lasted longer than my belief in god…

In my bible daze I studied using books and material from Finis Jennings Dake. Now dead, he was the controversial bible thumper of the time. According to Dake those in Heaven could see those in Hell. I'm not sure what the purpose of this was. I also do not think any messages could go from one place to the other. Hell is a hot place in the center of our Earth. No one is bodily in Heaven or Hell, each place being for souls (or spirits) only. I suppose that in the Middle Ages the idea of being able to look upon the dead in Hell would be a deterrent against another heavenly rebellion.

All of this is ridiculous to me now. It is absurd. What joy could you have if anything like this was remotely true? The Mormons fixed it though. Since everything is all about family they put all the family together and maybe you can even get your own planet when you die.

I currently believe that when you die you are dead. That's it. Life is over. Why would anyone make their life on Earth all about their own death?

I can remember at my mom's funeral, the catholic priest, who didn't know her, droned on and on about heaven and eternal salvation. All I could think about was how I had been taught that only good catholics would go to heaven. My mom was raised lutheran, converted to marry my dad. Her mom was lutheran. It would have been a hell for her to not be with her mom. They also wouldn't let us play Georgia on my Mind, her favorite, because it wasn't religious. At least it let me focus on my anger so I didn't cry through the whole thing.

The guilt of sin, which leads to the fear of hell.

Makes a good joke but was actually genuine Christian doctrine, the revelation of which gained Thomas Aquinas a Sainthood

“In order that the happiness of the saints may be more delightful to them and that they may render more copious thanks to God for it, they are allowed to see perfectly the sufferings of the damned … So that they may be urged the more to praise God … The saints in heaven know distinctly all that happens … to the damned."

[Summa Theologica, Third Part, Supplement, Question XCIV, “Of the Relations of the Saints Towards the Damned,” First Article]” St Thomas Aquinas

It’s all about the indoctrination and conditioning of the mind thru fear.

Since, according to some religious folks, there is no suffering in heaven, one won't remember their lost loved ones in hell. Another place for illogical thought - kids without parents and, or parents without spouses. Just have a happy happy joy joy mindless existence.

A lot of people (even skeptics) miss this point. But, yeah, in order to be blissfully happen in the presence of the Lord you have to become an emotionally lobotomized zombi: stripped clean of empathy and sympathy in order to be oblivious to the suffering of others. Or, as you suggest, have your memory banks wiped clean and be reduced to a slavering sycophant.
