A rather clever Spanish engineer who created a ‘WhatsApp’ for his grandma with no cellphone or Wi-Fi. Ingenious and cheap.
Granma is the necessity of invention?
Excellent!
Raspberry Pi in a strawberry box what fun.
His grandma didn't want a cell phone, so he build her a cell phone that she didn't recognise was a cell phone. I mean it's certainly canny but it's not genius.
You are trying to detract from the value of this post. He has never caimed his concoction to be unique or genius. Also, it is NOT a cell phone. It has no phone number and does connect to phone masts. It only connects to internet servers, via wired broadband, as indeed does my own Raspberry Pi.
@Petter I'm not just trying, I'm successfully detracting from the value of this post. If you read it you'll see that the device contains a Sim card. The means it has a phone number and connects to phone masts. Whilst he has not described it as unique or genius, you described it as "rather clever" I think if you'd read and understood the post a little better you might revise your description.
@Petter yes, but that's beside the point. I wouldn't want to maintain it. and I wouldn't say it meets the objectives given. The only clever thing about it is the deceptive way that it tricks someone into using technology they said they didn't want to use and so imposes the consequences they said they didn't want to have.
