Why don't the news channels tell what great strides the scientific community are doing instead of all bad news?

I suspect it's scientific ignorance. You can't report on something if you're ignorant about it. In the case of Fox News, they wouldn't do much science reporting when they routinely deny science's validity.

bad news sells papers

I’ve wondered that for ages.. Usually, if they cover anything scientific, they’re attempting to find humor, as if some ‘crazy scientist’ came up with another zany idea! I think it’s more they don’t understand or appreciate science ... nor do the majority of their viewers, or at least that’s what they apparently assume 😟

To a lot of these people facts don't matter; opinions do.

Good news doesn't sell. Sensationalism sells.

If people don't believe in Science they will not be interested in hearing about Science.

I wonder that myself. I have to go to YouTube to get the latest on space exploration and findings and I am very interested in the Mars colonization. I even saw a NASA video where they think Mars may have had a civilization at one time and that one was a welcome shocker as I too believe there may have been humanoids there.
