Science does not always take the most direct route, but will get there eventually.

Religion exists to justify things which can't be discovered by any known method, the more things discovered by any method, the smaller religion gets.

I can hardly see it now.

What religion are you talking about?

Religion ... pure and faultless is this: to help widows and orphans in need and avoiding worldly corruption. James 1:27

Word Level 8 Feb 24, 2022

He's talking about facts. The Bible is a fictional document inappropriate for factual reference. And no, your definition of "religion" is patently false.

[thefreedictionary.com]

To believe in doing good is not a religion but rather a philosophy, and that philosophy is Humanism.

@LovinLarge etymology of religion does have 2 sided apparence however the root meaning of religion is what biblical reference is based on.

So, to be bound or take an oath for responsibility of such things as helping widows and orphans in need, religion is the opposite of neglect.

...popular etymology among the later ancients (Servius, Lactantius, Augustine) and the interpretation of many modern writers connects it with religare "to bind fast" (see rely), via the notion of "place an obligation on," ... In that case, the re- would be intensive. Another possible origin is religiens "careful," opposite of negligens.

@Reignmond if you see my etymology post just above, why would anyone call something religion if it has nothing to do with helping widows and orphans while avoiding worldly corruption?

@Word

  1. Your time would be better becoming literate.

  2. Using a quote without citing its origin is plagiarism.

  3. Factual allegations require supporting evidence to be credible.

  4. Your comment Is nonsensical.

@LovinLarge thank you, if I were concerned about a scholarly writing I might consider you for editing assistants.

But, this is a social media discussion platform and, I am not so worried about certain formalities for initial discussions.

If you would like further reference as to where I get my information, that is what is called having a discussion is about. You simply ask me such a question as to where I get my information. It's not hard to carry on such a conversation.

As you claim that it is nonsensical, goes to your lack of understanding and as it seems you do know how to carry on conversation discussion exchanges to ask such questions to bring you clarification for what you say you do not understand.

But thanks for the advice

@Word Citatition goes to the assessment if credibility.

When I arrive at the conclusion that a particular member has nothing to contribute that will be of interest to me, that is when I utilize the block function on this website. It did not take you long to reach that threshold. Congratulations!

Of course religions (mostly) all try to help people as members and donors to their funds> also they have certain altruism , but they ar so often wrong as far as ALL the truth is concerned. THE BIBLE has many holes. Is that why it is a Holy Bible?

@Mcflewster christianity as a whole is a theocracy. Theocracy is a type of government. An aspect of christianity may be religious helping widows and orphans. However, as the whole of Christianity is about world domination thru laws of government. The entire purpose of christianity is not directly to help widows and orphans etc.

@Word You are using a "definition" from Christian apologetics, and it is simply not correct.

@LovinLarge I Ditto your comment. Dialogue with such screaming believers is a waste of time and intellect.

@Reignmond I don't know much about apologetics and the word religion comes from etymology usage for helping widows and orphans in need. This means the historical correctness from how it has been used in history.

@Reignmond is there some reason you are not a science believer?

@Reignmond Belief means hold information as true. Science is a system of interconnect bodies of knowledge (physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, etc. etc.) that holds their information as true. Science is a belief system.

@Word Christianity is a form of control but that does not make it a government. Most governments worth their salt want to help all people within their borders whatever religion they believe in.

Please tell me which religion will win out to be in charge of all other religions as well as doing the world government for all its peoples .
It can only get elected by a complete world population poll.

@Word I love the early Monkees.

@Word I am not going to dignify your idiotic question with an answer. It is apparent you are a troll, likely a christian.

@Word You could call it a "belief system", but it is one based on evidence and revision inlight of better evidence, where as Religion is based on unsubstantiated dogma.

@Reignmond not a troll and if you view my group on my profile I have discussion I left christianity in about 2009.

Please feel free to visit my group "Illogical atheists guide for ending Christianity "

@Reignmond that depends on what you are calling religion.

Religion ... pure and faultless is this: to help widows and orphans in need and avoiding worldly corruption. James 1:27

No dogma required to help widows and orphans in need while avoiding worldly corruption.

@Word Due to your postings I have seen, I have no interest in your group. And I was an Atheist long before it was popular, and likely before you got your first tooth. I know exactly why I am an Atheist. Though I would add that I am not a dogmatic Atheist. That would make me no better than "the other guys."

@Reignmond I can understand people liking their label atheist because it separates them from those with the religiosity meme organism. I suppose the topic is something of a hobby for me and it may not be your sort of forte. Gardening isn't everyone's forte either, so no, i do not try to force people into my interest but welcome those that have an interest. Thanks for chatting.

VERY WELL SAID! Science doesn't care enough about your religion to refute it! Science only wants truth.
