It's all fun and games in Ukraine and the sanctions on Russia atm. And I see talk of democracies no longer doing business with despot countries. This is all well and good and I support in principal.
But Lady Liberty must deliver justice with an even hand. Sanctions do affect average people more so than those they target unfortunately, so should be used carefully, as is the case in Afghanistan.

So please don't forget there are people and children in Yemen, Syria, Somalia etc etc also. It's not just Ukraine unfortunately (it's a sad world)
And if the "new normal" is going to be democracies don't deal with despots and sanction and isolate them instead, can that prick running Saudi Arabia please be first in line?
Ukranians are showing they are a strong people. Good on them.

Absolutely disagree. The sanctions don't go far enough. The "good" people of Russia need to feel the pain so they will give a dam and maybe do something about their murdering leader. People don't care until it starts to affect them. Lets not start the... but all lives matter logic...We need to apply this to all other dictators. No. The world needs to pull out all the stops to make Russia regret this...

Being an open thinker you will be the first to acknowledge that horrendous restrictions be imposed on America for the atrocities committed around the world.
Allow me to refresh your memory with a few photos of the legacy of American agent orange & depleted uranium:

And I guess that it will be moronic of me to ask you to read these posts:

We’re still buying 20,000,000 barrels of oil from Russia per month after being energy independent just a little over a year ago.

And when are you going to pay for it?

Oh no you can't?

The US has just embargoed Russian currency & banks whilst confiscating their assets.

LMAO

Like children caught stealing candy from the jar.

@FrayedBear But we are paying them for 20,000,000 barrels of oil per month today. Still.
Embargo them on one end and bay them back on the other side.
How much were you paying for gas 16 months ago???
Think big picture.

@CourtJester [rt.com]

@FrayedBear But we are paying them for oil. Duh….. big red truck…..

Fun and games in Ukraine? Innocent people are dying on the command of your director Putin. No, the world won't be distracted by your slight of hand to undermine political sanctions because you prefer bloodshed.

Your tacit support for Russia is acknowledged and rejected. Your authoritarianism is unwelcome here permanently.

You know a sure sign of a psycho is they don't get sarcasm, innuendo nor irony but take things literally?

@puff No, the sure sign is when someone pretends to use sarcasm and irony to undermine and deflect the significance of a life and death situation, particularly one that affects the entire world.

I will say this. I despise Putin and the Russian government. I love Russian people. At least 7K citizens have been arrested in peace protests thought the Russian Federation. For everyone arrested there are thousands of like minded people who are not as brave as those who came out. The good Russian people will be hurt by the sanctions imposed because of the actions of Vladimir Putin.

I dispute nothing you say, but the use of sanctions have been very swift (pardon the pun) and I would like them used with equal vigour against all the other despot arseholes in this world.

@FrayedBear You do know the full saying, "It's all fun and games.............until someone gets hurt".
The Pentagon/ NATO have had lots of fun and games these last coupla decades, the type of fun bullies have getting their own way. Russia/ Putin has been a planned target, proof Steele dossier collusion bollocks, for awhile now. Fun to tease and spread rumours about, everyone can join in.

But now he's snapped. Right or wrong, he's snapped.
Putin has a very thick skin, but don't dismiss the significance of Russia's humiliation at the hands of the Olympics. All thought and treated Russia/ Putin like scummy shite anyway, so backed into a corner he has lashed out.
Ukraine has copped it.

@puff Did you catch the smug smirking PM on this evening's news? $70 M of missiles to Ukraine but I'm not telling Putin how they will get there ie. The were delivered months ago. Does that mean parliamentary approval was not obtained?

@puff Oh & he talked about Australia standing up to bullies. Is that like Israel, America, godbotherers . . . ?

@FrayedBear, @puff May I suggest you both add this to your wish list?[rover.ebay.com]

@barjoe The day we have perhaps the biggest floods in our history, our PM announces a $70million "lethal aid" package to Ukraine; priorities obviously.

@barjoe lol ROFL Joe. But unlike you Americans we are not so stupid as to pay $14.99 for something that we can make for ourselves from kitchen alfoil costing less than a cent. And that's if we were so stupid as to believe in its efficacy.

@FrayedBear It was a joke. I suggest you make your own then.

@barjoe 🀣😭 not that stupid Joe.
