I have a thought about the average every day Christian here in the US. You know the type. Maybe they go to church, maybe they don't but they keep some sort of connection with the Christian religion.

When children are indoctrinated into religion that indoctrination can and often times lasts a lifetime. I think this is due to people trusting what their parents/grandparents have taught them about religion usually via a church. They trust that information more than than they trust any other source of information. This continues into adulthood and through it in most cases. The indoctrination is supported by the tribe they surround themselves with and American society at large. Simply put people put what they are told/taught by their elders as the truth and what goes against that is considered going against family and disrespecting your elders.

Michael Shermer wrote a book titled "How We Believe". He collected poll data from two sources - Skeptic Society members, and the public from a national polling company selection - which varied in amplitude but was consistent in the trends. What he found with regard to early religious education, was that individuals tended to remain with the religion they were raised in with an exception. The exception had to do with the individual's perception of how stable their parents relationship was. The more unstable an individual thought their parent's relationship was, the more they were likely to change their religious affiliation or to give up on religion overall.

Christianity is a theocracy, theocracy is a type of government. The goal of christianity is world domination by laws of government. It us not a religion. Religion ... pure and faultless is this: to help widows and orphans in need and avoiding worldly corruption. James 1:27

Christian theocracies
The head of state of the Vatican is the pope, elected by the College of Cardinals, an assembly of Senatorial-princes of the Church. They are usually clerics, appointed as Ordinaries, but in the past have also included men who were not bishops nor clerics.

The nones are on the rise. More and more people are waking up to reality. I may see it in my life time when the nones rise above 50%.

That may depend on where your located. Here in the Northeast we have the largest numbers of nonbelievers.
