After his massive tax break for the wealthy was signed into law in 2017, Trump addressed a group of millionaires at Mar-A-Lago with the words, "You all just got a lot richer."

There’s no hope for the stupid or brain dead. Remember, he’s ‘god’ to most of his followers.

Another invented god who is merely a bad caricature of a human being.

The fact that 45 maintains ANY level of relevance is appalling.
His supporters are brain-dead zombies.

In spite of mounting evidence to the contrary, the number of Republicans who think the 2020 election was stolen has actually gone up in the last year. It's really scary how many Americans are completely divorced from reality.

The story at the link is dated Dec. 24, 2017.
While agree with the thought, I hope Trump gradually becomes old news.

Here's a link to a more recent opinion on how Republicans treat America. -- [thedailybeast.com]

When Trump said what he said back in 2017 it hit me like a thunderbolt, and I have carried the memory with me ever since. I posted the quote because, for me, it's one of those rare moments where the truth is captured, like an insect in crystallized tree sap. And Trump's tax break for the rich is still in force, so the quote is still relevant. Your Daily Beast article is very timely and also spot-on. Thanks for sharing! 👍

@Flyingsaucesir
I have a very Republican attorney brother who lives and breathes competition. But he and his family have what I consider to be a twisted definition of the term.

For them it's not enough to win -- the other side must lose.

I've read that conservatives wouldn't care if the world burned to the ground as long as they were in charge of the ashes.

My biggest heartache with our society today is that many people seem to have lost their commitment to their sense of common good. Racism, misogyny, extraction capitalism -- many of the roots of evil(tm) around us can be traced to selfishness -- our weak ability for empathy.

Ok. Rant over for now. Sorry.🤔

@RichCC No no, don't apologize! You hit the nail on the head. Republicans seem to see life as a zero-sum game; somebody has to lose if someone else gains. It's a very stilted view of the world.

By the way, thanks for this metaphor: "...conservatives wouldn't care if the world burned to the ground as long as they were in charge of the ashes." That's a beauty! 😎👍

We may need to eat the rich very soon here..

The story that Marie Antoinette, referring to poor, starving Parisians, said "Let them eat cake," is almost certainly apocryphal. However, Trump and his Republican lackeys express a real fetishism of wealth and disregard for working people every day. For example, see the link the Daily Beast provided by RichCC above. 😡
