Russia yesterday and today. Funny how thinking about an issue and then it suddenly appears. Remember reading a National Geographic about how Russia was growing in prosperity and stability. Then one man came along and everything got upended. Now the country is the scourge of the world. We need to remember how one person can change the world for the worse. We came close to this ourselves and are not out of the woods by a long shot. [yahoo.com]

Just think of how all of Russia's art, music, literature, and the rest of their culture will be stained by this obscenity. Putin has shit all over it, with a stink that will last for decades. It will be a perpetual stain on Russia's history, the exact opposite effect of the reasons Putin claimed, a legacy of Greater Russia.

It is insanity that the Republicans cannot, and will not, grasp how catastrophic the wrong leader can be. How can America be trusted with nuclear weapons if it is so liable to make bad decisions? For certain, no nation anywhere should trust America, and some of what is going on (in Europe as well as elsewhere) reflects that.

The last part was one reason I posted this. We will be no better if we let madman tRump get a hold of the reigns again.

Elon Musk said Putin makes considerable larger amount of more money than him.

There are reasons for that "co-incidence." Especially if one voices their thoughts (even just to ourselves). The devices have ears. Steps forward are not achieved until scary times create a response against such people. Sometimes it takes many years but they rarely hold on to that power.

But look what they leave in their aftermath!? How many had to suffer and die and what carnage had to happen in order to get the world we have today. The Germany of today is a far, far cry from that of the first part of the 29th century. One must remember all this was done without nuclear weapons. Dr. Strangelove could still be among us.

@JackPedigo Not my design. I just note that progress can only b made at the expense of it all. I would prefer people simply taught historical truths and remembered them but people don't care what I prefer.

@rainmanjr I have a degree in European history and don't believe there's a historical truth. Names, dates and events may be real but lessons, causes even who was right and who was wrong are open to discussion. Used to be a serious historian had to spend hours in archives. Now so much information has been downloaded a lot more details have been opened up and history is undergoing a radical change.

Chilling analysis.

We really need to remember the power of 1 crazy person who can annihilate the whole world. One would think in this time we would have a better system to control these mad people but it just seems things are getting worse. I once made a post about a theory that in our galaxy alone there are a few billion places in the 'Goldilocks' zone that could host intelligent life. One hypothesis that we haven't found any is that have all gone extinct. I try to think of what another life from would have created and been like and yet went down the same road as we are going.
