May I ask you all to hold 3 minutes of ABSOLUTE NON-SILENCE and of Blowing Raspberries for the Australian Liberal- National Party and their defeat at the Election Polls this weekend.

Yes, I was surprised, I have to admit, but with a low primary vote and independents and greens, something more ground shifting has happened. The downside is Peter Dutton as likely new Op leader, just the worst person they could choose. He's borderline fascist. Still, new Op leaders are usually just temporary and don't win govt back. I've gotta say, as someone who first pref'd The Greens, Labor second, I'm as pleased about their gains as I am seeing LowBlo ousted. Maybe people have been watching those wonderful Honest Govt podcasts, about the 2 parties being the Shit Party and the Shit Light Party, and the need for a more diverse system. I don't trust those TEAL Johnnies, though, and don't think truly progressive folks should.

I'm half expecting Tony the Rabbit to try and get back to save Australia from all those lefties, and the Devil, of course.

I tend to think that the alternate Parties such as the Greens, etc, still have a very long row to hoe before they can be considered as true alternative to either the LNP or the ALP PLUS, imo, they do need to sort out their PRIORITIES and stick to them 100% instead of swapping and changing to suit which ever way the political winds are blowing, that btw, applies mostly to the Greens.

@Triphid yes, but I don't see them as alternatives to the major parties, but broadening the political spectrum and acting as influences on the major parties which have become too tweedle dee tweedle dum on most big policies. The more representative politics is, the better. We'll have to see how all this goes down. I'm too old to have any illusions about politics.

@David1955 66 years of age and "you too old to have illusions about politics."
Does the phrase, "Head in the sand" mean anything to you perchance, because it does to me and I am approx. 2 years older than you, Australia is my HOME and I still care for and about it as should every other DECENT Australian imo.

I'll get out my vuvuzela and blow it hard.

ScoMo has been given a very well deserved thrashing.

And to cap it all so far Josh Friedenberg has also lost his seat as well.

@Triphid if only Dutton had gone too.

@David1955 I wonder IF we could convince one those invisible, imaginary Chinese submarines or warships he keeps claiming are circling the country to accept as their newest Cabin-boy?
