More converts in Africa for food.

More "dominated".

Basically 'thoughts and prayers'. Could never figure out which one worked better, the thoughts or the prayers. I suppose the thoughts since whoever was being prayed to may not be as powerful as another diety. At least thoughts are easy to quantify....someone has a thought and you know who thunk it....but prayers are just so harder to measure.

I was born and raised a catholic, and I have plenty of criticisms of the church, I no longer believe its stories. However, the following from Wikipedia:

"The Roman Catholic Church is the largest non-government provider of health care services in the world. It has around 18,000 clinics, 16,000 homes for the elderly and those with special needs, and 5,500 hospitals, with 65 percent of them located in developing countries."

Africa is the church's biggest source of growth. Here people can go to Catholic hospitals regardless of faith and get treatment....it is a good way to get converts.

HOWEVER, you cannot get your tubes tied at a catholic hospital. You cannot get any form of birth control. Even if you have 25 children and your uterus if falling out, you cannot get anything to prevent another pregnancy. And they are profit driven. Life decisions should not be made by for-profit healthcare agencies.

@HippieChick58 Yes the church has its bias regarding reproductive care and it is on its basis or it does not provide a service. Profit driven yes almost a necessity, but it also works disproportionately with the poor, providing many free services.
I didn't understand you statement "Life decisions should not be made by for-profit healthcare agencies." what are you trying to say? Who ought to make these kinds of decision regardless of for profit or non-profit?

@cava I maybe could have said it better. Life decisions need to be left in the hands of the individual and their health care provider. I work in disabilty claims and I hear quite often that the doctor has ordered tests and the insurance company has put obstacles in their way or denied the tests.
