This lady Cassidy Hutchinson.

This is my take on this lady, now touted as some kind of hero:

It didn't bother her when -

Trump called fascists and bigots and bullies 'very fine people'.
He colluded with Russia, giving them info, letting them in the Oval Office, siding with Putin.
He attempted to extort Ukraine, and was impeached for it.
He incompetently handled COVID, causing vastly more deaths in America per population than any other country.
He gave obscene tax cuts to the rich, wound back good regulation, installed his goons wherever he could, and corrupted every area of government possible.
Lied on just on just about everything and anything he could for 4 years.
Made America look like a laughing stock in the international community.
Rambled on about using bleach to kill COVID, making a fool of himself.
Did everything he could before the 2020 election to subvert it, disparaging postal voting and corrupting the Postal service as per his installed goon.

These just for starters.

She was just fine with all of that, and much more. But when people actually attempted a violent coup she must have known Trump and his buddies had festered, she finally decides that that was too much and pulls back, I think because she was concerned about the legal ramifications for HER.

Did she leave during the Trump years? No. Did she go public before the election about Trump, as others did? No.

Okay, she did a good thing this week during the hearing. But apart from that she was right there in the White House presumably supporting Trump and everything he did, a totally loyal Republican girl. Her patriotism and belief in democracy was a bit late, don't you think?

Okay, she FINALLY did the right thing. But hero? No.

And to whom, exactly, was she, a 20-something year old intern, supposed to report/complain about this to At The Time.? The gang of complicit toadies surrounding her/trump?
That would have gone well, and for sure caused her to not now be as helpful to our country as she is right now.
Apologist for drump, are ya?

She knew what Trump was before and after she worked there. Fully on board. Only after the Committee brought the full extent of the plot did she choose to 'do the right thing'. What she finally did was good, but a reality check here about the situation is needed. She'll be fine. Before you know it she'll be on CNN, MSNBC, or Fox, most likely, earning big time.

Me, an apologist for Drump? After all these years here and my atheist far left positions. You don't pay much attention, do you? Every prediction I've made about Trump lingering on like poison has been validated ( against American criticisms) while you naively cling to the fantasy that justice will finally catch up with him. You like to be direct, so there's direct for you.

Hero may be a bit much, just for making a truthful statement with legal protection. But people do change, and that change often takes time, especially when you are blocked into a sub-culture which puts every sort of restraint and pressure on you, so what someone does today should not be blighted by what they did in the past, and breaking with your past can indeed be heroic, especially if you have been locked into that past for a long time and invested much in it.

Is she just trying to save her own skin though ? Maybe, but saving your skin and doing the right thing are not mutually exclusive. Benefit of the doubt.

Well let's just say skin saving and doing right met a happy confluence here. News now is she had a Trump payed lawyer until very recently, changed to her own lawyer, then offered to give testimony. This change occurred after the start of the televised proceedings. Do the math. As always, we have to look beyond US media spin. Americans love 'heroes', real or not.

@David1955 Your “Do the math” seems like “Engage cynicism”.

You seem to not know women can be, and are, threatened in ways that men are expected to ignore.

@yvilletom I acknowledged below about the threats, so back off. Yes, it's nasty. It's America. She ought to know about threats though, like Trump's against anyone he hated during his 4 years. She was fine working for him. And the math was about self interest when the writing was on the wall.

Like I say, you guys love heros, genuine or not.

@David1955 It’s you who has a hero worship you have to destroy.

Testifying against evil in front of Humanity means she painted a giant target on her back for the rest of her life. That appears heroic. Maybe it wasn't heroic, but was simply stupid. One doesn't keep company with cowardly fascist thugs unless one is also degenerate. The bigger problem is that the GQP still identify as supporting Trump against any democrat. Indeed, the GQP now sanctions lawless anything goes, and even violence; whatever it takes to regain power. No rules can't be broken, and destroying government functions is deemed a desirable by-product. It's a suicide pact set up by the GQP, which operates from a martyr complex psychology. They're ready to die because they think heaven awaits. Mostly, they don't think about it and instead recite Fox memes...

I think she'll be just fine. Yes, they've been threats, and that's nasty, but she's now got a huge profile, so she'll land on her feet, no doubt. Putting aside mainstream US TV making a hero out of her, the fact is she decided only recently to get a new lawyer, replacing the Trump paid lawyer she had before, and to tell all to this Committee. Why? She saw the writing on the wall and the shit coming out and she decided to cover her ass lest other testimony put her at risk. Let's just look through the usual American media bullshit and see what's really going on here. Fact is, if Trump had won she'd in the WH helping to complete the Trump fascistization of America; if January 6th had gone another way with Trump remaining, she'd be there now doing his bidding. She puts on a good show as an idealistic 25 year old, but in fact she's a young Republican apparatchik signed on to their agenda, but smart enough to save her ass when things went south.
