Why is Abortion even something the SCOTUS should weigh in on?

What an honest and respectable SCOTUS would have decided that this is not a legal decision but a medical decision and thus no law is applicable to whether or not an abortion is needed.

You already know the answer to that one, don't you?
My question is, why is a fetus considered a human being in their eyes? It's not. I might BECOME one, but it isn't one yet!
And with the world bursting at it's seams, shouldn't it go on an abortion diet? More abortions, please!

That is a reasonable view point. Christian politicians are not reasonable.

Imagine the efforts the founding fathers took to separate church and state, only to arrive at 2022 with 2/3 of scotus being right wing nutters!?👀

Every naive Christian supports the pro-life position.
I even know of atheist that do.
What they have, male and female, is an attachment to the patriarchy.
Our notions of "authority" and it's relative value are askew of reality, what power they have is the power that the public gives it. Abusive old men, mostly white, occupy the vast majority of our positions of authority, which is reinforced by paternal propaganda spewed by the Christian faith, particularly the fanatical denominational and non-denominational protestants with a large proportion of "holy rollers" and the more sociable Catholics who will never be pro-choice because they're in a totally male dominated religion where women have diminished roles, they're struggling to get out of the 17th century, just look at their keen fashion sense in the Vatican.
In our case the GOP harnessed the authority of these various denominations of Christians at a personal level. For example the pro-life position held by Catholics is dictated by the Church, sure there's a large minority of Catholics that don't agree but the pressure is always there. A minister in a moderate protestant Church my hold the pro-choice position but many in his church are traditionalist and no one in his family has ever been pro-choice, he may not talk about it, but he'll watch Fox and vote.
By loudly promoting the dominance of Christianity in a wide variety of cultures and supporting the conservative traditional pro-life stance fascist elements of the Republican party have weaponized religion. The sad part is Christian support of the pro-life movement didn't start until the 1980's but fascism builds a myth as a reality and it seems to most of us that all of christendom was pro-life since the crucifixion which is utter bull shit.
When it comes to political power that's what feminism is about, detecting and understanding why what we keep trying over and over for hundreds of years will never work, we need new approaches and those require competence, a character trait not seen in a single Republican administration in my lifetime.

Politians will go where they will likely get the most votes. They will adopt the policies that are popular whether they believe in them or not. Politics is a career and advancement is the goal, they don't really care what the constituency needs, it's all about what the politician wants. Greed and power are the motivation. A turn at the trough and access to the treasury.

And it is a 100% privacy issue.

It's not anything that the government should be involved in. Ever.

Unfortunately, this is just another example of the undo influence religion has on public policy.

None of this is going to end well.
That much is very clear to me.

It's because the GOP has convinced their cult followers that it is a political issue. That's one thing they are very good at -picking a topic they know will resonate with not-so-bright people, and brainwashing them with it.
