I love these... but I am a work in progress.

SIX CARDINAL RULES ABOUT LIFE

  1. Make peace with your past so it doesn't spoil your present.
  2. What other people think of you is none of your business.
  3. Give it time. Time heals almost everything.
  4. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
  5. Don't compare your life to others or judge them. You haven't made their journey.
  6. Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of traveling.

THE FOUR AGREEMENTS

  1. Be impeccable with your word
  2. Don't take anything personally
  3. Never assume
  4. Do your best.

I am working hard on rule number one, don't have that much problem with the rest.

I have a lot of trouble processing "Don't take anything personally"

@TheoryNumber3 Even though we know that what we imagine is completely unrealistic and stupid, it is hard to let go sometimes l

I have read a few sets of rules for life, and those seem to be about the best so far, they will certainly be hard to beat.

It seems to me that number 4 “excepts” you, implying therefore that no one in charge of your happiness….🤔

I read it as you are the only one in charge of your own happiness

I also am a work in progress. I also remember and am supremely grateful to that tiny band of people who have helped me through the worst of times. One of them is on this site.

Aren't we all a work in progress?

@Betty Yes, but some of us work backwards.

@Jolanta Sometimes you need to work backwards in order to find your starting point to go forward.
