Seeing as astrophysics is a particular area of interest Neil de Grasse Tyson and Carl Sagan are constant favourites. But I also love watching public talks by Michio Kaku, Bill Nye, and Sam Harris.

Carl Sagan. He somehow combined science with a feeling of connectedness to the universe that has in many ways shaped my outlook on life.

He just died. I also like Niel DeGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye and any other scientist that makes learning science fun.

Marie Curie, won 2 Nobel prizes, in Physics and then Chemistry. Unheard of for a woman in the early 20th century.

Newton. He invented calculous because he needed the math to prove why the moon circled the earth.

My namesake Lord kelvin. Over 200 papers published before he was 21 (some under pseudonyms so as not to embarrass his professors), Last of the great 19th c. scientists.

Charles Hapgood, he tried to tell us all,but was shot down by others.

Richard Feynman.
He had a healthy attitude towards race. As a member of the Labour party I regard the recent accusations of antisemitism as primarily generated by the Israeli lobby and the right wing inside the party. Race is tearing the party apart, despite being the least racist party in the UK.
My view is that can never be any place to racism, be that negative or positive.
Feynman refused the "Jewish" science prize because he regarded such a thing as ridiculous. Such positive racism does nothing but causes suspicion and resentment and reifies concepts of race as if they are useful and valid ways to characterise people.

1.- Richard Feynman, amazing dude with an incredible philosophy and stories, some really fun, some really good, some very sad.
2.- Albert Einstein, of course. Everything has been said
3.- Schockley.. every technological development we enjoy today thanks to semiconductors (transistors then microprocessors) is because of this guy that history will punish for one radical stand
4.- Maxwell... The Scottish dude who's life was cut so damn short and yet managed to acomplish more than a lot of the best
5.- Newton.. same as Eintein, no introduction required
6.- Hawking... Recently departed. Some negativity here and I wonder if those who say he was a fiasco have contributed to a thousenth of what he accomplished even with the cards given

I could go on but.... There are plenty of achievers that make me want to find the way to travel back in time and live my life again and again....
