If the regular working class citizen refuses to participate in and take ownership of the political process, they either wind up being screwed by corporations and private interest groups who are motivated solely by greed, narcisissm and and self regard or by government buerocrats who are the same.
Its rough out there. Nothings forever. Theres no more service stations. You have to pump your own gas and check the oil. I pay over a hundred dollars to change my oil and filters and a lube shop. I have to go to my mechanic to get my vehicles worked on... no more tube type tv's. Yep... life is changing. Its sad for the little guys.
Move to Oregon, Bob, they don't allow you to pump your own gas there. And get rid of that Bentley, an oil change shouldn't cost you more than $40. (Just joking)
@Condor5. If you only knew the stuff around here that require oil changes a work. Geeze! Oregon sounds great.
@BucketlistBob Oregon is a cool place, you should visit if you ever get the chance. I say this knowing they're not real fond of Californians, which I am.
@Condor5. We talked about relocating. Its so expensive to pick up and move. Our kids live around here. Its like i have insurance for struggling in my old age. They already know thats their job. Everytime i pulled thier ass out of a bind i told them this... yes dad .. we will.. no inheritance if i don't get a little help....lol. we here you dad...lol.
@BucketlistBob I've never had that expectation of my daughter, but she has volunteered as much, for which I am grateful. If they, our children, inherit our values, that family comes first, we should have little to worry about in our old age. I completely understand why you would want to stay close to your kids, aside from the fact they are your kids. I feel extremely fortunate to live close enough to my daughter so as to be able to visit with her often.
I was in no way suggesting a move to Oregon, btw, but a visit would be rewarding, I think. I lived and worked in Utah, for several months way back when, and have been mountainbiking there a few times since, but I would not choose to live there.
@Condor5. My brother, ive seen the ugliness of being helplessly dependant upon others. As much as i hated my dad... i was there for him and mom. Then it was Susies mom and dad. We would love to visit Oregon. The long drive would be fun. 3 days for sure to get there and just take our time driving from site to site. Ive spent a ton of money on my kids. Ill never get it back. I was there on the sidelines for them when their shit hit the fan. Its a small price to pay me back...
@BucketlistBob agreed. If you can't count on your kids, who can you count on.
