FYI, Congress includes the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Raising the debt ceiling requires passage of a bill by Congress. Both the House and the Senate have to vote for passage by supermajority. For a bill to come up for a vote in the House, the Speaker has to give his/her ok. Under the new House rules, even if McCarthy says yes to a vote, it only takes one member to halt the process. There are a number of anarchists in the Republican caucus capable of this, who have indicated that they would.

Clearly that would be on the Republicans.

It also sounds like you're now concerned about what won't pass in the future after the democrats had two years to do everything that they had been talking about and did absolutely nothing. So they didn't accomplish a damn thing when they had the full ability to, and now it's the blame game and finger pointing.

The debt ceiling has to be raised every year. While in power, the Dems did that. You didn't notice, because they just did their job,, without making a big fuss.

I don't raise the debt ceiling in my house if I'm unable to control my spending.
I would say that if they are raising the debt ceiling without making a fuss about it, they are quite obviously NOT doing their job.
