Has anyone seen Knock at the Cabin, the latest movie from M. Night Shyamalan? Without giving too much away it's supposed to represent the apocalypse, except one that can be stopped if one family is willing to sacrifice one of their own. It plays quite fast and loose with the apocalypse myth, but features plagues, etc.
it wasn't the worst way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The acting was ok. The plot was straight forward The effects were pretty good, yet I had a hard time suspending disbelief. I was generally entertained.
As an agnostic atheist I found myself thinking about the mythology itself. The fact that the supposed loving creator of the universe wants to end his creations in varied nasty ways unless a family is willing to end one of their own. I mean, first of all, how can people believe something so stupid? Second, this entity, that a good percentage of the world worship, is a psychotic, spoiled child.
I almost never watch horror films, especially ones that presume supernatural forces (i.e. gods, angels, devils, and related rot).
@OldMetalHead You do you bra
My cheap ass will be watching it free, or not at allβ¦.
@OldMetalHead Shame on you!!! π₯Ή
It makes me angry to see allllllll these streaming services charging monthly rates for films I could see in a theater or free through my cable service.
I'm not a big movie watcher, anymore, but I haven't (and wouldn't) see anything of his since Signs (which was awful).
I loved The Sixth Sense hated Signs. Sorry when something goes into religion will save us I get annoyed. If this one is much the same it will be a pass from me. Mind you I hated Signs for way more than religion mythos it was projecting. I mean I will kill your wife to send you a message on how to save your family from the aliens with the intelligence to travel across space but not protect themselves from the most common compound on the planet, just so you will believe in me.
His films never seem complete or whole to me, he leaves too many nonsensical doors open to oneβs imagination for me!!!
I could not finish the movie. Since I am able to watch anything free I thought I would give this movie a chance. Nothing wrong with the acting it was just the whole idea of the bullshit with me. I made it a third of the way through the film, then quit, then looked it up on Wickipedia. I would be pissed off if I had paid to watch this.
Think the idea is to sacrifice your own life to save someone's esles life in Christianity to go to heaven. The Government Gods will sacrifice someones elses youth to assume save the planet. Both way an hierarchy system to sacrifice their pawns. Today it's more psychological and economics warfare than physical warfare per capita of deaths.
In the biblical narrative, God tells Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac, on Moriah. As Abraham begins to comply, having bound Isaac to an altar, he is stopped by the Angel of the Lord; which is over obedience, I rather kill God , who ever that to be. Religion or Government most likely both are contradictive to their own laws. The Bible says the only reason to kill a creature, is to eat it. Or God told George Bush to go invade Iraq and the middle east. Imagine in a international court of law. Bush can start wars that kills millions of women and children and gets away with it.
Not generally a fan of his films.
However, your synopsis satisfies whatever curiosity I may have had about it.
I don't expect to ever see this film, as I'm certain I would be thoroughly annoyed by it.
Thanks for the heads up.
I like the way you think and I am in total agreement.
