Why would you shoot someone who rings your doorbell? Makes no sense.

Only a poisoned mind would commit such act without ascertaining the purpose of the caller who rung the doorbell. There can be absolutely no justification for shooting someone either through a shut door or outside of the residence. In the UK the home owner would find himself in jail for a long stretch.
