ON THE WEAPONIZATION OF GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS

So many new scandals emanate from Trump World every day that we can be forgiven if we can't recall the details of yesterday's stink. On the release of John Durham's final report on his investigation it's worth while to take a look back, see it all in context, and tot up the score card.

WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT

Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election. They hacked the DNC, stole their emails, and leaked some juicy bits. They also had their Internet Research Agency (a Russian troll-farm branch of the FSB) create thousands of fake accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms, where they disseminated all kinds of fake news designed to divide America. There were dozens of meetings between Russian operatives and people working on behalf of the Trump campaign. Rodger Stone was a central figure, with a back channel to someone named @goosifer 2.0, the source that leaked emails embarrassing to Hillary and the DNC. When it looked like FBI Director James Comey was going to start an investigation Trump fired him. When it looked like Comey's successor, Andrew McCabe was going to investigate, Trump had him fired too. (Christopher Wray then became FBI director. Andrew McCabe has since been exonerated and received back pay.) Deputy Attorney General Rob Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to lead an investigation.

THE MUELLER REPORT

When Mueller's investigation was finally completed, he issued a lengthy report. Trump's Attorney General, Bill Barr sat on it for weeks, only releasing his own very stilted, white-wash synopsis. Nevertheless, the full report did finally come out, and it did not reflect well on Trump.

While Mueller could not prove that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to tilt the 2016 campaign, neither could he rule it out. (Key players like Roger Stone and Paul Manafort could not be flipped. They lied to investigators, went to trial, were convicted, and then got pardoned by Trump.)

And Mueller cited ten instances where Trump himself obstructed justice. But Mueller was prevented from prosecuting Trump by a Justice Department policy that a sitting president cannot be indicted.

Mueller did take some scalps. In the end, his team indicted, convicted, or obtained guilty pleas from 34 people and three companies, including top advisers to President Trump, Russian spies and hackers with ties to the Kremlin.

TRUMP WEAPONIZED THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT AGAINST ITSELF

Of course Trump claimed total exoneration, but there was still a bad smell hanging in the air. So he repeated his claim that the whole investigation had been a "witch hunt," and he pressured Bill Barr to investigate the investigators.

ENTER JOHN DURHAM

Special Prosecutor John Durham spent 4 years and 6.5 million dollars investigating the Mueller team investigators. The final product: one guilty plea on a low-level offense and N0 convictions at trial.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The Durham investigation exonerated the Mueller investigation! ๐Ÿ˜‚

EPILOGUE

Republican Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio has taken a page out of Trump's playbook. He has weaponized the investigative power of the the House Judiciary Select Sub-Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government (๐Ÿ™„) to attack anyone who would hold Trump legally accountable for his many, many crimes. Happily, Jordan is getting nowhere and making himself look like an idiot. Jordan's latest calumny: he's refusing to let the the Democrats on the Committee see the transcripts of depositions taken from three ex-FBI employees who had their security clearances revoked. Interestingly, we learn that these disgruntled former employees have, since leaving the FBI, received money payments from Trump advisor Kash Patel! While Jordan creates fictitious rules to keep the truth from emerging, he spins the testimony into handfuls of rotten red meat to feed the mean, mealy, MAGAts in our midst. ๐Ÿคฌ

51 high level intelligence lied about the Hunter Biden laptop laptop prior to the 2020 election in an blatant attempt to hell Biden get elected not to mention the extreme corruption of Twitter, Facebook and the MSM who colaberated in the attempt to cover up this very damming information. This was what won the election for Biden and the people responsible for this should be imprisoned!

Where are the convictions? Hell, where are the indictments? Durham couldn't even get a grand jury to indict! Like the cartoon says, his report is a big Nothing Burger. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@Flyingsaucesir So are you supporting those intelligence officials in their contention that the Hunter Biden laptop was nothing but Russian disinformation?

@Trajan61 I have not seen any evidence to the contrary. You have evidence from a credible source? Bring it!

@Flyingsaucesir The Hunter Biden laptop which was called Russian disinformation before the 2020 election by the 51 intelligence officials and suppressed by both Twitter and Facebook to help Biden win the election was later proven to be true but hell donโ€™t take my word for it google it!

@Flyingsaucesir [wsj.com]

One of many sources.

@Trajan61 Boy, that is some soft mush you have ladled out. Nothing but opinion piled on speculation, topped with innuendo. You got any real evidence? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Listen, if you're going to try to indict Hunter B. for trading emails with a Chinese businessmen, you're going to have to also indict millions of other Americans, including Donald and Ivanka Trump.
๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Please show us some real evidence or fold up your tent! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@Flyingsaucesir It seems if you disagree with the evidence you just ignore it so whatโ€™s the point.

@Trajan61 Yawn...๐Ÿฅฑ

@Trajan61 Don't get me wrong; if Hunter has been bad, I want to see him punished. Just show me the evidence.

Not only have you failed to provide evidence of Hunter's guilt, you have yet to show how that would have anything to do with his father. Hunter is/was not a government official. He's not involved in creating US policy.

I do find it interesting how you desperately try to deflect the conversation away from the substance of the post, i.e. that Trump's efforts at evading accountability through weaponization of government institutions has so far been nothing but a costly and immoral boondoggle.

@Flyingsaucesir Kind of hard to get Justice against the Bidenโ€™s when the FBI and the Justice dept are nothing but political hacks who have done everything in their power to help the Bidenโ€™s!

@Trajan61 If that were true, don't you think Durham's 4-year investigation would have turned up some evidence to that effect?

You're engaging in rank, speculative, conspiracy theory.

Do come back when you have actual evidence.

We see and know all of this from the past and it helps to explain George Santos if you stop and think about it.

Sure, absolutely! People have been predicting (and worrying about) the appearance of more trumpish politicians raising their ugly heads for years, and so it has come to pass. All they needed was someone to test the waters, prove the concept, crack the ice, and away we go, sliding down the slippery slope to the lowest common denominator. And here we are, with Gym Jordan, Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar, Matt Gaets, MTG, George Santos, Lauren Bobert, and other rotten slime infecting Congress. It's disgusting. ๐Ÿคฎ

@Flyingsaucesir How about rotten pieces of crap like Rashida Talibe, Illhan Omar, and AOC who are completely nuts and if we continue to elect people like them we are headed for doom!

@Trajan61 What about them? Say something substantive, or go home.

@Flyingsaucesir If you support those people you are very ignorant and delusional.

@Trajan61 If you have an argument supported by evidence, bring it!. Ad hominem attacks don't cut the mustard. You're playing at a middle school level. Up your game or get off the field.

@Flyingsaucesir Doesnโ€™t it bother you that Talibe and Omar support terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah over Israel?

@Trajan61 Do they? Or are they merely vilified for rightly pointing out Israel's manifest oppression of Palestinians and theft of their land through continued expansion of their settlements?
