My stepmother told me that a white pastor to his majority white congregation that Jesus wasn’t white with blue eyes and some parishioners got upset and stormed out. I almost wished I was there to see it. How insecure must you be that your fictional god, that was stolen from middle eastern people, can’t be worshipped if he doesn’t look like you?
Obviously the term "Semitic Jew" is lost on these people. What dumb-asses!
I wish I had a photo of the billboard seared into my memory from 25+ years ago when I was in grad school. It was in the heart of dear ol' Alabama. A rendering of Jesus with his arms stretched out wide. Below him were a half-dozen smaller people representing "sinners" of various types--drug addicts, gang members, unwed mothers, etc. Sure enough, not only were these people all much smaller than "our lord and savior, Jezuss!," but every single one was a person of color, while Jesus was glowingly lily-white with electric blue eyes and platinum blond hair. I involuntarily laughed out loud when I saw it; so absurd! How do grown people believe such sh*t?
Haha, I honestly didn't realize there are people who don't understand that their Middle Eastern Jewish Messiah wasn't of European descent. I get that European art depicts him that way, because most people in Europe during the Renaissance had never seen someone from the Middle East, but to think that's actually what he looked like and to get angry when someone explains otherwise is truly astounding.
