Its very hard to meet women down here in the south if your not from the south. I'm from Chicago, I've lived now in Charlotte for 10 years this Augiust. I'm a very loyal and honest guy, and I've never been religious, but that seems to be a major red flag in a lot of womens minds if their gonna decide weather or not to talk to me let alone date me ! It would be nice to meet a special woman who couldn't care less about religion. The only thing that should matter should be us as a couple and our immediate families...

Also met a nonbeliever here in Houston where I just moved, found out she's into hardcore Astrology and when I mentioned it's not real, our "friendship" ended as fast as it started! Lol

I grew up in Mecklenburg & Iredell county, lived in Charlotte for 20 years. Relocated to Boone in 2012.

Charlotte is the buckle of the bible belt. The home of Billy Graham, Baptists, and NASCAR, and a bastion of corporate greed second only to NYC. You can find those letting their freak flag fly sometimes, but even the LGBT scene is very DL.

In my experience, the real problem for a liberal in Charlotte is not so much the religious, as the conservative corporate types. Combine the two and you have a city that is WHOLLY DEVOTED TO FAMILIES AND CHILDREN, minivans and gossip. It's far from a single's paradise. Charlotte may vote blue, but it's the most stick in the mud, coat and tie, who-you-know not what you know city I've ever had the pleasure to leave.

I recommend a REAL college town for you to find those of like mindset. I wondered why I was a pariah in Charlotte for years. It's not you. The only guys I dated there were transplants from the northeast. They were the only ones strong enough not to give a @#$* what all the corporate breeders thought of them. Since women tend to be even more religious, I expect you may have a rougher time than I did (if that's possible.)

If you want to stay in NC, I recommend the Research Triangle Park. Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro. Not Asheville...it's not as "advertised" and run by Buncombe County farmers. If you like a small liberal town, Boone is an option...20K students and 30K locals keeps it from getting stale. If you're single and not uptight, I really think you need to GTFO of Charlotte. Personally, I'd lose the John Deere tee unless you're looking for Baptist farmer's daughters.

I wish you the best and sympathize with your situation. This is just my 2 cents so feel free to disagree.

The John Deer T-Shirt is pretty cool I think, LOL I could wear my THOR Rules !!! T-Shirt I guess ??? At least he's not a Puny God, LOL... Thanks for the update, I was getting the same Vibe as you described. I guess I'll just have to get used to being single, since I'm not gonna compromise on my personal beliefs.

@Michael1965

Right you are.

Depends on what part of the south you're in I guess.

I did spend some of my early childhood in southern IN but even though I grew up right here in this backward town, I would prefer someone NOT from here lol
