As an Earth scientist, I am particularly tickled (or chafed; the difference can be minute) by the self-contradiction in Genesis, where it says that the sun and the moon were created on the third day. At that historical time (before the invention of clocks) the ONLY way to measure the passing of days was by counting sunrises and sunsets. So how could it have been the third day when there had been no sun and no Earth before then?

This is because the bible was never written as one big book. When you put the individual books together to make a story things like this happen. If Genesis was not included we would not need God or Jesus. This is why Christians speak of "evilution." It is evil because a need of god is left out if we believe evolution.
