In realizing that today is December 1, I went into teacher mode.
"December" literally means the "tenth" month and "November" the "ninth" month. "October" means the "eighth" month, and "September," the "seventh" month. They were named as such on the Roman calendar, but got pushed back with the inclusion of "July" for Julius Caesar and "August" for Augustus Caesar. The other months are named after the Roman god Janus and other Roman deities or Roman holy days (aka "holidays" ).
If Xtians want to protest aspects of paganism in today's world, they need to begin with the months and the days of the weeks and lobby to get them changed. The days of the weeks are named after Roman gods (Saturn) and Norse gods (Wednesday). Monday is the day of the moon, and Sunday the day of the sun--Sunday is not named after Jesus.
March = Mars the god of war, because that was the end of winter, and you could start fighting again. June = Juno the queen of the gods, because it was the queen of months.
@Gwendolyn2018 Sadly I have encountered the belief that the calendar is Christian, and that being used as a proof of Christianity.
They focus on things that they can profit financially from.
