Over the years I got away from watching the TV show Gunsmoke. Now I have found the original half hour episodes on MeTV plus. What a delight. In a recent episode a bank robber, his wife, and his partner robbed a bank and would hide the money for a while before using it. The main crook killed his partner and told an Indian friend that they did not need him any longer. Going into business in Dodge he next stabbed his wife and told Matt the Indian did it. Matt knew the Indian and disagreed. His tribe always throws the knife.
Matt tells this crook every step he has made in this robbery and the crook asks him to prove it. Next he finds Matt in his place of business looking over all the papers and he tells Matt he can legally shoot him. As he takes aim and shoots the Indians knife hits the crook in the back. As the bad guy falls over dead Matt goes over and spits on him! I'm not lying. Matt Dillon actually goes over and spits on the this dead crook.
It was a great show and was on for 20 years.. it’s amazing how in the 50s and 60s westerns were the most popular shows on television. Now they cease to exist. Me and my grandfather’s favorite western was Bonanza.
I liked Bonanza also as well as Gunsmoke and others.
Congrats, and happy viewing to you. I too enjoyed Gunsmoke decades ago.
Gunsmoke later became more of a family show and had an hour or more time slot. I printed this because it was hilarious to see Matt go over and spit on the dead bad guy. He was that bad and deserved it.
